You wouldn't by any chance know of or where I could find a smaller rotor and caliper combo than stock for the rear so I could fit a smaller wheel (rear only) that has the same or better stopping power than stock would you?

Why would you want to do that, for racing? I would say the only way to do that would be get a set from an 01 model. I know my 2001 4x4 had discs in the rear, and they have the same axle housing.

yes I want to be able to fit a 15-16" rim comfortably on the rears only so I can run a taller slick without resorting to grinding the crap out of the calipers

I will look into it for you. Just not sure if you can interchange them with the later model trucks.

Was told the best thing for you to do is to go to a junk yard, get an older axle, and swap them out, as it would be cost prohibitive for you to do it by changing the parts out.....

My 2001 4x4 had discs all the way around?? I will see if there is a conversion kit for that year model. Maybe that will be the ticket.
