So i have been teetering on doing a full 392 stroker kit. Unfortunately not in the cards at the moment. I have been trying to find actual information on installing a 6.1 cam and intake. I have an 06 5.7.

Any info or guidance would be greatly appreciated. I am aware if im not mistaken that strokes are the same. So theoretically the cam should work no issues. As far as the intake i am not sure.

    Thanks in advance
    Chuck

6.1 cam and intake manifold on your stock 06 5.7 is a terrible idea. Yes the cam will bolt in, but the stroke wouldn't play into it anyway. Cam is raised in the block for that reason (some advice they took from Tom Hoover). To use a 6.1 intake you have to swap your accessories around and get rid of your clutch fan for an electric fan. Will also need adapters to mitigate the gross port mismatch as well as deleting EGR (6.1's don't use EGR). 6.1 intake is geared for more high RPM power, which isn't the hot ticket for a heavy ass truck. All that work for minimal results. Several cams out there that would do a much better job even with your stock intake manifold. If you were going with 6.1 or eagle heads then the 6.1 intake would make more sense.
Swapping in the 6.1 cam (not always the intake) was the ticket back in the early 3rd gen hemi days simply because there were no other choices

How are you doing this on an 08 4.7.....? Or is this someone else's or you have another truck?

The 4.7 I gave up on after three rebuilds ...by a company that kept the bird to tight or something. I got I insurance check for 6800.00 so am building 5.7 hemi from 08 dodge charger. Using 6.1 stroker kit w Diamond piistons and hellcat lifters.
    .am undecided on cam yet.
    .
.as for 4.7 it was putting out 320 hp but the tick drove me mad (piston skirt slap)
    .
.am rebuilding myself this time n will sell it or throw on shelf for later project

LOL...all available non-MDS lifters now are "Hellcat lifters". Everyone seems to think it's something special; same part number.
Can you translate that into English lol?

Injectors are same ion 4.7 and 5.7.
Hellcat lifters have bigger diameter rollars and are not same as 5.7 lifters
