Hi All,

I've got a 2014 with the 3.6 (195k miles) and it recently crapped out while driving on the highway with U1424, P1DD2, and what I think to be the main culprit code of P0394 (Camshaft Position Sensor B Circuit - Bank B 2/2). We made it home the last few miles in limp mode. I changed the Bank 2 sensor(driver side), drove fine 20 miles and then it all happened again.

The 2nd time it crapped out I was hearing some intermittent noise which sounded like it could be camshaft related. I did some research and was suspecting cam phasers based on the noise.

Got the valve cover off and everything was looking pretty okay. No play in the cam phasers and even the rocker arms seemed good. I was pretty stumped and checked something I should have looked at before taking the valve cover off - the wiring harness going to the Camshaft Position sensor. Sure enough, I'm getting very inconsistent voltage readings at the connector. By wiggling around the connector and straightening the wires I'm able to get 5V at wires 1,3,and 4 but those same wires are frequently reading 0.

Oddly enough, I checked the connector on Bank 1 and it seems to be having a similar issue, though I never got a Bank 1 sensor code. This made me wonder if the issue was further down the line (I've read that both sensors share a source) but the inconsistent readings seem to really depend on manipulating/wiggling/straightening the wires right there at the connector itself.

I'm about to snip the connectors off and check the voltage at the wires themselves, but don't want to start cutting things apart if there's anything else I should be checking first.

Any thoughts?

- Scott
