Canada -> US Uconnect flash?

Hello everyone,

I hope this hasn't been asked before; I searched and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

I just recently purchased a used 2017 1500 imported from Canada to the US. Long story short, I found out from Uconnect support that the Canadian either "software" or "unit itself" doesn't support Uconnect access. Does anyone know if it's possible for the dealership to flash the US software on to the unit, or is it a hardware limitation?

My 14 Canadian return was missing the finned XM/Uconnect antenna and I also think the overhead console was missing the hardware. It did get SiriusXM just fine asit had the Sirius only antenna

My Recently acquired 2015 PW was also a Import I have been able to take the RA4 from ver 14 to ver 17 (11) with out issue but no Uconnect apps I believe it's a HW limitation, which I'm not to concerned over as I have plans to swap for a factory 18+ unit (Car Play) in the future

It is a hardware limitation. IIRC the Canadian radios do not have the cellular modem that is required for Uconnect. Not a big deal for those upgrading US trucks with Canadian radios since Uconnect won't activate a vehicle with an upgraded radio.
