Just got my 1st Ram and was thinking about adding a Catch Can but after studying the engine compartment it appears that the engine shroud would be in the way and need to be removed....is this so?

Also will the catch can interfere with the VaraRam Grabber CAI?

The engine cover has to be taken off to install the catch can, but you can put the cover back on after the install is complete. It will also work with your Vararam. I have both the Vararam and Billet Tech catch can installed on my truck as well.

Just did the diablo billet catch can on my 14. Install wasn't hard but lining the engine cover back up was a PITA. I also swapped in a AEM oilless high flow filter in the stock CAI.

I think the vararams look bad ass! Just to much coin for me lol.

All the engine cover does is trap heat and reduce engine noise.

Get a BT catch can from Moes, definitely worth it and a nice quality piece.

Catch can catches the crank case gases that are part of the PCV system which get cycled back into your intake. It separates the oil from the crank case pressure gas and catches it before it enters your intake sysem.

Basically keeps your engine running cleaner. Is it needed? No. Does it keep the engine cleaner? Yes. Is there a performance boost from using one? Not really, other than the minimal amount of timing that could possibly be added with custom tuning due to no oil being burnt.

Some people oppose them saying its not needed and a waste of money. Others swear by them. I use one but I do not believe it is a must have. If you purchase an intake, you should get one as the benefit is about the same :)

Hmmm, good to know... my old diesel runs on oil so that's probably why I've never heard of one, lol
