Not sure if this is the best place for this post, so here goes anyway.

I misplaced a key fob for my 3rd gen 3500.

I know how to make another, but my question is can I CHANGE the code so the lost one will no longer open the truck?

I have AlfaOBD.

Thanks in advance.

You have a 2006-2009 model truck right? I assume so since you have alfaobd but I cant see the year on tapatalk lol

If I remember right there was some sort of function that erased all the programmed keys and required all keys be reprogrammed. I’m not sure if our 3rd gens have it since I have no experience working with keyfobs cuz my truck doesn’t have em, but in a roundabout way it would allow you to remove that fob from your truck

Also just a warning that you’ll be playing with the SKIS as well since Dodge blessed us with combining those systems, so things could go wrong in a hurry. I’ve been wondering for a long time if that stupid sentry key system could be turned or added to a non-sentry truck, but no luck so far. Hopefully someone else who knows a bit more will help ya out

Alfa isn’t gonna work for your 2004 unfortunately, 2006 is the first year for that. But the good news is it looks even easier for your 2004 lol

If you enter programming mode on your truck, it should delete all existing keyfobs, so you’ll have to reprogram all the keyfobs you do have. Heres the website I looked at, but theres lots of how-to’s out there

As mentioned you can disable all fobs, but pretty sure that's a no on changing the truck's PIN.

Thanks everyone.

So, if I understand correctly...

I have one working fob now, we’ll call it number 1.

So I buy another and program it from the one that I have, we’ll call that one number 3.

Does that mean (I hope) that the one that’s still out there somewhere (number 2) will no longer work, even if it’s not around when I program the new one (number 3, from existing number 1)?

Not trying to make this complicated, just want to be sure I understand.

Thanks again everyone!

Pretty close yeah. When it goes into programming mode it deletes ALL saved fobs, so you’ll have to reprogram fob 1 as well as fob 3

In the end only fob 1 and fob 3 will work with your truck.

Hey everyone thanks!

Great news. Buying a new fob is one thing, having one floating around is another. :)
