Plastic tank is junk , would like to get a fabricated aluminum tank with baffles , sending unit for stock guage on dash , but with a neck fabbed to go out where tag is on stock rear factory bumper . I have a spring loaded tag mount from a donor car that will be going there so easy access to fill pipe . Has anyone done this to their Dodge trucks ? Was it a fabricated tank , or from a what . I'd like a 15 - 20 gallon tank . Any ideas ? Fabricators on tanks in Oklahoma , surrounding area ? I've contacted many fabricators , tank manufacturers, etc and get no replies or help at all . This can't be that difficult !! Help !! 16466961723851142443309810219606.jpg

that's a very specific project. if you google search tank relocation, its been done. but if brining the filler neck out behind the license plate, I think you'd be the first. that basically sounds like alot of custom fab. once you get the mock up of the tank and filler done, your best bet is to take everything to you fabricator and get the tank made.

The biggest issue I see is that the tank will have to sit pretty low to use a tag fill.. Fill point has to be above full tank point to work.
Do you really want your tank hanging below the back bumper?
Most fuel tanks have moved inboard for a reason - namely rear end crashes.

Its called a Fuel Cell. But before you spend a single dime. You better do some research, most States do not allow Fuel Cells to be used in every day driven Gasoline Vehicles. Key word is GASOLINE. In the USA. A big No No.

The reason all the tanks are now made of plastic, is due to todays gasoline is made of corn & the inside of the gas tank will rust quickly.

Maybe Oklahoma is one of those States that still has gasoline made from oil, it will not rust the tank

If you move your gas tank back to the spare tire area, put an access panel in the bed, maybe between the inner fender & tailgate

Sorry I'm so late to the show. Many source a Ramcharger tank as they are mounted in rear. Minor mods necessary due to spare tire brackets. I've know several that have done it though. I have dual tank truck, and as with yours my plastic tank cracked as well so I only run off metal tank in the cab, no problems as long as the gas does not sit for extended periods. If so just add stabil. I wasn't too disappointed with removing my frame mounted tank anyhow...made room to run factory style dual exhausts.
