So a little about my truck first.

2004 Ram 1500 4x4 5.7 Hemi

about 74000 miles on her. I just got back from a 2000 mile road trip. I had changed the oil/oil filter beforehand and cleaned out the air filter.

yesterday check engine light came on so I hooked up my actron Pocketscan and got two codes...

P2096
Downstream Post-Catalyst Fuel Trim System 1 Lean

and..

P0137
Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2 Voltage Low

I am not a mechanic at all.. at most I can change out my brake pads and oil but that's about it...

Are these serious issues? What is the fix for them and how much does it generally cost?

I would love to hear from someone who has had the same problem(s) if anyone out there has..

Thanks!

Sounds like you got oxygen sensor that went bad. I'm not sure which 1 it is, but if you replace it hopefully it will get rid of both codes. You could probably go down to autozone and tell them the code, and they can give you the right sensor.

I'm not sure which side bank 1 is, but the to number 2 is after the catalyc converter. Hence why replacing it should take care of that first code.

Definitely don't pay more for a name brand sensor verses a cheap 1. I've ordered a 15 dollar sensor off ebay, and when I came and they have the same part number printed on it as the 80 dollar 1 from the dealership. Made by the same manufacture, just sold through a different channel.

I have this same code. This would be the O2 sensor on the driver's side behind the catalytic converter. My neighbor and I replaced the O2 sensor on the driver's side in front of the catalytic converter being this controls the lean and rich of the fuel mixture. I also put spark plug non-foulers on the O2 sensor on the driver's side behind the catalytic converter.

I haven't run the truck through it's cycle yet so I'll have to repost when it does.

I have an '04 1500 with a 5.7l hemi with Pacesetter long tube headers, complete 3" true dual exhaust, and after market cats.

Hope this helps.

P.S. I use NTK O2 sensors.

Didn't know if he'd like to share his thoughts though. Sometimes people find a fix and don't reply. Sorry for the inconvenience.
