I purchased a 2020 Limited. Drove two hours to make the purchase.
Leaving the dealer I stop at a stop light. When I go to take off the truck rolls backwards, bucks forward, and throws a check engine light and error saying the start stop function is unavailable. I figured with the truck being a CPO I’d just deal with my local dealer instead of turning around.
I specifically asked the dealer not to run the truck that morning so I could hear a cold start. Of course I get there and the truck was coming out of detail warm. I shrugged it off. The first cold start at home I hear the manifold is cracked. I knew that was a common issue going into this truck.
Lastly I noticed my rear glass has a crack in the frame and I’m assuming this won’t be covered by the CPO warranty after reading some threads. The dealer told me it would be covered and actually gave me a extra $100 on my trade in to cover the deductible. Super frustrating considering it’s been less than a week and I have a slue of issues.

Was hoping for a better start!

Whats with guys who don't test drive a truck before buying it these days. For 30,000 or more bucks,i can make the time to go test drive it before buying, even if it's a 2 hour drive. Hell i drive 2 hours one way to go drag racing every weekend,so a 2 hour drive isn't very far,lol

Maybe I should of added I drove the truck for over a hour with zero issues… Looks like I fell short of your two hour requirement..
It drove like a dream. I also requested it to be put on a lift and I examined it with a flash light. I did my due diligence.

I’m a former collision painter for 20 years and currently a PDR specialist. I have a wide knowledge of how vehicles get reconditioned before they hit the market. This truck was solid! The truck has a clean carfax maintenance record and not a single panel has been painted!

As long as they take care of it I would not sweat it. PITA for sure but nice truck overall

When you buy used there is always the potential you are inheriting someone else's headaches. If it was traded in with intermittent issues, neither you or the dealer would know until they reared their ugly heads, which they are doing. Good luck with that...Don't fault yourself, and don't be quick to fault the dealer as it seems they are standing behind it, which is not common for used car lots nowadays.

Well apparently you didn't do enough due diligence,if it's only a week old with a bunch of issues. It sounded like you drove it off the lot and the first stop sign you came to,the truck started to act up,you never mentioned that you'd test drove it for an hour.It sounds suspicious why it acted up at the first stop sign you came to after leaving the dealer.
Good luck and i hope the dealer takes care of you,and gets it all sorted out.

Should have been part of the CPO inspection. That is a dealer issue and not a consumer issue. Somebody pencil whipped the forms.

Bring it back to the selling dealer. It will be covered under the CPO and no deductible. All used cars have a dealer warranty prior to using any service contract you may of purchased.

The last new E250 Ford I bought had the engine light come on a couple days after purchase. Turned out that while it was sitting on the lot for 9 months or so some dang squirrels were chewing up the black plastic fuel tank venting hoses. Dealer said depending on the fault it sometimes takes several cycles before the board tells the light to come on. Probably why it was not on the day I drove it home.

Just dumb luck.
My first new Ram was a 1985 D150. I factory ordered it. Waited impatiently for around 6-8 weeks.
Finally got the call that it was in, come get it.
Feeling all good driving home until I came to a stop sign about a mile from my house. It stalled out.
I restarted it and drove about 100ft and it died again. Never restarted. Had to walk home and call the dealer (no cell phones back in 11/1984), to come get it, it's on the side of the road. It was some kind of electronic ignition box.
Truck went on to run trouble free for 377,000 miles before I sold it.

Unfortunately, it happens. I had MY 19 at Dealer for O2 sensor code. They ordered sensor, repaired, and said: good to go. SO I am happy, get in truck, exit dealer, make left turn, drive 1/4 mile to Burger King to get a burger, and I be danged if friggin MIL light flash back on with O2 sensor code. WELL< I have a good dealership and a good SA. I went back and they went and ordered (4) new O2 sensors, 2 for upstream, 2 for downstream, (FYI, for the uninformed, the Hemi's have 4 O2 sensors, and the Upstream are not the same ones as the Downstream), and now no issues ref O2. Just happens, friggin electronics at it's best. These 50-80K rolling computers, gotta luv it. Sometimes, I yearn for my 67 SuperSport, so easy and simple back then.

My Dad bought a brand new 75 Ford F-150 back in the fall of 74,on the way home the headlights kept getting dimmer and dimmer,to the point we finally had to stop and swap the battery out of my uncles truck into Dads new truck to make it home. The next day he was taking it back to the selling dealer for warrenty and the 360 kicked a rod out the side of the block, the old man coasted it to the side of the road and we piled into Moms car (she was following us,thank god, lol),and he drove straight to the bank and stopped payment on the check, then we went home, and he phoned the dealer and told them where their truck was parked, and they'd need a tow truck, lol. Then he went to another local dealer and bought their truck.
