Welp, spent the day installing my new JL Audio gear, got everything wired up via the speaker level inputs. Sounds great but now the frigging Check engine light will not shut off!!! Any ideas?

First idea would be pull codes. Can't do anything before that.

What code are you getting?

The shifter plug wasn't in all the way it turns out.... But the light is still on. Will it reset if I take the neg battery cable off for a bit? I really don't want to buy a code scanner :(

Go to a parts store use their code reader pull the code then erase it and see if it comes back.

But what would be a decent reader to get if I decided to get one?

Well if you tune your truck a tuner can pull codes. I've had the innova brand from O'Reillys and they work really well.

It should clear itself after 3 or 4 successful start and run cycles without the error.
