I just found some AFE Power Twisted Steel Headers for $200 plus $40 for shipping ... what do you guys think? The guy says he had them on his truck for 20k miles ... anything I should be concerned about? ..

are they the shorties? I quite like my arh long tube headers an y pipe with high flow cats. I just looked at the afe power website and the afe twisted steel shorties look decent. They don’t offer the long tubes anymore but a few other sites have them. They appear to be a mid length setup which is great for top end HP. The shorties won’t get you to much power

Yes they are shorties .... @the_goodguy07 and I installed these on his truck last year and he loves them ...

I know I won't get much power gain or any at all, I just want to avoid the exhaust bolt issue on these trucks lol ....

If you are going just for the bolt issue I don’t see why not. I would throw some header wrap on them though to help keep temps down

Well I finally started my quad headlights retrofit ...

I got them opened without having to bake them ... what I did was put them out in the sun for about 20 minutes since it was almost 100 yesterday ... while one of them was in the sun I was using the heat gun to start prying them open .. took me about 5 minutes each to get them open ..

Then I used Easy Off oven cleaner to remove the chrome from the bezels ... it took 5 minutes for the chrome plating to completely dissolve and it left a nice glossy black finish ...

I then used a dremel with a wire brush tip to clean up the permaseal left behind to make it easier to add new butyl to close them up ....

I am going to order some bi-led projectors and some small led chips to put in the marker area for the blinkers... the stock corner blinkers I am going to try and use that area for DRLs using the dedicated harness that I got from Grim ....

Don't know if I want to color match them or leave them black and paint the projector shrouds the color of my truck ...the side marker is going to be black with the leds behind them ...

In the high beam area I am probably going to use another projector or some led pods, still not sure ...

I might also put an led strip across the bottom to go along with the drls and probably tying them into the blinkers ... still deciding what to do ...

here are some pictures ...

I am trying to figure out if I can wire up some leds to delete the amber running light but only light up when the blinkers are set ... $200 for switchback boards is ridiculous so I am going to try and put something else to run as white DRLs ...

Well I got my hands on some OEM projector headlights in perfect condition ... I installed them using a conversion harness and man oh man what a difference, night and day !!!!

I am going to open them up and do some custom work to them, but for now I like how they look and the output is just so much better than the quads I had on before.

I had stopped tracking my MPGs for almost a year, just didn't care too lol, but after going back up to 91 from 89, I decided to start keeping track every time I fuel up and to see what MPGs I'm getting...

Below is the last 4 fill ups ... that's mostly city driving, averaging 12.68 MPG and my last one 11.068 MPG...

I had one long trip to San Diego which is the one that shows 13.83 MPG a 170 mile round trip then the rest all city, stop and go driving ....

The dash is off by less than half a MPG to 1 MPG ... not bad eh ?
