that looks pretty awesome! so have you calculated RPM change with losing a gear? going to be much? or is final drive pretty similar?

Technically, I’ll be losing two gears. But it’s almost pointless anyways. The 545 has two overdrives, if you notice cruising around 4th gear gets used for all of about 5 seconds before it drops to 5th, the ratios are so close. Also it has a “passing gear” called 2nd prime that when you downshift to speed up, it drops to 2nd prime instead of actual 2nd gear. If you are at 40mph and manually select 2nd on the column, it will first drop to 2nd prime, then a second later will drop into 2nd gear. 2nd prime has been regarded as a weak link gear anyways. Now in the newer 6 speeds, I think it uses the 2nd prime on the upshift. That’s the extra gear. The only thing I’m worried about is going to a longer gear ratio, I’m worried it’s gonna be alittle more of a dog taking off. I will probably upgrade to the 4.56’s to get that back 30326be28e240db04614aa3df0627e46.jpg

Interesting! i'll be curious what your cruising RPM is! ambitious project though! awesome work so far.

It should be the exact same since the final overdrive ratio is so close. Now with the 4.56’s I’ll have to run a calculator. I think it goes up about 200-300 rpms

Got my traction bars installed today! The seem to work great so far. On the way home I stopped at the end of my street and did a big old burnout and it was smooth as silk haha
The real test is doing another dig pull, that was when I had the worst wheel hop, I’ll have to do one later. I also finally got rid of the old step bar brackets. I never got around to cutting them off, and they were really bothering me
Before with the brackets hanging down

Haha yeah I just stopped at the end of the road and let one rip. I didn’t have anyone to film it but I will get one soon. It’s the first burnout I’ve done yet, it was insanely easy haha! And yeah I love how they look so far

Started getting the shifter fitted to the console. Now that it’s actually in, I’ll have to do some filling and sanding for the holes it left in various places. And then painting everything to match the interior. I’m really glad I made the console easily removable

Don't you love how the bottom of the console is flat? Makes mounting everything so much easier.

Yep it was really easy. But I don’t do anything fancy, just screwed together some boards to get the right height. It’s solid, just not pretty. I have been using your pictures a lot as a reference

I did the exact same thing. Just some MDF to get the height where I was happy with it. The only thing I did was coat it in epoxy resin to seal the MDF.

So I’ve been looking into improving my head flow for the stroker, I’m planning on either ported stockers, eagle or 6.1’s. Of coarse that would be a waste without upgrading the intake manifolds to get some more flow in that area. I happened to find two great deals on intakes this week, so I bought a eagle car intake and a truck eagle intake. The car intake showed up today and it really looks sweet, especially if I do my magic with some cleanup and paint. But the car intake will have its own problems with fitment and the throttle body position. I can get it to work, but I would have to get an electric fan as well, not a bad thing but just another thing to do. So the truck intake has the 90 degree bend up front that may help with the Intake pipe from the air box. Also, it has the active intake runners with switch from long to short runners at 4800 rpms to help with the higher rpm power curve, so that’s a big plus as well. So I’ll be doing some test fitting and then wait for a good deal on some heads to come along. Here are a few pics of the car intake

This is with the intake sitting right on the heads, this is where the interference is with the throttle body

Here is a 3/4” spacer underneath it, still will need some minor clearance work, and then of course the brackets to move the alternator and ac compressor

Hey can you give me any quick tips for bed lining the wheel wells outside of the obvious? I picked up 2 cans of spray on bedliner to do them, planning on just a good scrub down, scuffing em up, adhesion promoter and then spraying but figured id ask if you learned any tricks after doing it?

No to be honest it was about that simple. I had a lot of grease from bad ball joints so it took some scrubbing to get clean and oil free. I used the epoxy bedliner I used everywhere else, I’m not sure how well a rattle can will work
