I have a 2011 ram 1500 Laramie , it came with 17 inch chrome clad wheels . I know thats strange but that was the only option on our middle east dealer . any way I installed a 6 inch lift kit and 37 cooper mt tires . and am using my truck on a weekly off road trips .
ANY WAY I had some vibration problems . thought it was caused from the big tires but found out the wheels or rims has been slightly damaged but can be fixed . the only problem is by fixing it . the chrome clad wheels may get scratched or broken .
MY question is . if I try to remove the clad the center caps will not fit any more . and I don't know how can I find some thing that can fit ? also is there a easy way to paint them black ?
last what are the main reason for the wheels to get damaged ? is it the off roading or the big tires ?
thanks

Try researching plastidip. It's an easy way to turn them black. And you can always go back.
Try dip my car or something on YouTube.

The cladding is held on with a hardcore cement style deal. I've seen them removed but heard it is ridiculous hard work and sanding all the cement off after. Plastidip+1 I plan on doing my rims shortly

My plastidip held up for 13months. Touched it up once. Ran it through the car wash at least once a week. Got lazy on the touch up when winter came around and it peeled. Easy to fix though.
