This may be a loaded question on a "mopar" website and yes, this is probably another "give me permission to make a bad decision" thread but here goes.

I'm in the market for a new daily driver. Not environmentally responsible but I'm still a big fan of a V8 sporty sedan. I have a Mustang GT right now but need more room. I'd like a V8 with a 6 speed manual but those seem to be relegated to the $80000+ car market now. That brings my realistic choices to a dodge charger/chrysler 300. leaning towards the 300S. But at 50K, I'm finding it hard to pull the trigger on an "old" car. in that price range, the only other car I've considered is the Kia Stinger with twin turbo V6. 2 less cylinders and pressurized but the power is in the right ball park.

sticking to new only, not looking for used since around here these days, it doesn't save you much.

opinions or any other sedans I should look at?

My son sells mopars and he had a deal for me on a 300s two years ago. But I bought a Ram. If I did it need a truck the 300s was it!!!!! Lots of room, big trunk, beautiful interior, Hemi power. They had dealer added a magnaflow exhaust and I almost bought it instead of the truck…wife stopped me, but had I been alone?????????
Ride and enjoy…I’m dammm jealous!

The 300 is a solid choice. The car has great lines and pretty feature loaded for the price.

I have a loaded to the gills 300C with the 5.7 and 2.62 gears, love the car,it's not a huge tire spinner, but it pulls down wicked milege for a 5.7.On the highway with the cruise plugged in at 105 kmh/roughly 65 mph,it'll get over 30 mpg. Also has the best heater i've ever had, lol.

I owned a 2006 300C SRT8 for 12 years and it was a great road car + that big 6.1L HEMI had plenty of power.

The LX platform is an older one but they are reliable. The V6 is no slouch nor is the 5.7L HEMI they currently offer.

I'd buy another one in an instant if I was in the market for a new car.

After driving and owning a multitude of 5.7 and 6.4 vehicles, I've come to the conclusion that any 6.4 MDS car is the best all around daily driver. Unfortunately you can't get a 6.4 300 for years now (except down under).
I say Charger, but I'm biased ;)

thanks for the input all.

yeah, I've had my eye on the 300 for a bit and was holding my breath, just hoping they'd offer the 6.4 as a special "final run" model but I don't see that happening.

5 are in transit so as soon as the 300S v8 models arrive here, I guess I'll go looking. just looking..... the dealer locally is claiming not to be involved with the ADM and is still selling alittle under sticker. they have a decent rep around here so we'll see.

Odds are all 5 will have the 2.62 gears, but it's worth asking if any of them have the deeper 3.07's (open diff) or 3.09's limited slip gears.I wouldn't hold my breath, but it doesn't hurt to ask, lol. The 8 speed does help offset the 2.62's with it's 4.71 : 1 first gear though.

rear end ratios aren't even an option on the Chrysler web site. unlike different trim levels on the charger that gets you the 3.09, the 300 doesn't have that. Not overly concerned. I know I'll be taking a performance hit going from a Mustang GT to a 300, but should be fast enough for me.

btw the dealer just emailed me about all 5 300s being pre-contracted out to waiting customers before they arrive so I should start the process now before I miss out. I'm starting to have my doubts about this dealer....

My son at one time had a 2010 300C (Hemi) and I gotta tell you that for a luxury sedan it was really a beast. Fast and looked good to boot. I'd buy one in heartbeat. I'm not much into sedans so that's saying a lot.

I prefer the corporate twin Charger, personally.
I'd like a V8 with a 6 speed manual but those seem to be relegated to the $80000+ car market now.

Challenger R/T comes with V8/manual and starts at under $35k. It's a two door, but it's a big one and has adult usable back seats and a large trunk. My 5th gen Camaro is tighter in the back seat but still much more roomy and usable than a Mustang or 6th gen Camaro. No way you need to drop $80k for a V8/6M.

@reek buy a newer 300, drop a 6.4 in, get some Brembos, suspension, etc and make your own. At least one person has already made a newer Hellcat 300.

My son (well maybe I do since I signed the loan) has a 2018 300S but with the 6 cyl.

I really like it, looks pretty sharp, comfy on the highway, gets decent MPG's, and scoots along pretty well (added a Peddle Commander & CAI). It's also AWD so is pretty fun to drive in the snow, 4-wheel drifts are fun. Wish it still came in an SRT version, but would then suck to fill the tank every 3 days :)

Still have our 2006 R/T Charger bought new. It's been a great car with minimal repairs and 200k.
