You know i see alot of people complain about the location of filter i have never had a issue tho easy to get to in my opinion I have seen 100x worse Unless something changed from 2011+
They did a little. When I had my 2010 and 2015 (both 4x4), I could put a quart sized paint mixing cup under the filter and it was really easy and no mess. My 2018 has a block between the filter and the engine block (to heat up the oil using coolant?) that makes it hard to get anything under it. The bag method gets mixed results for me.

What kit did you go with? Did you lose oil pressure?
I didn't use a kit, I used parts from Improved Racing and made up the AN hoses. But the PacBrake kit that's out now I would absolutely do that if I was in the market.

I lost a small amount of oil pressure, but that's my own fault as I had been running too small of an oil filter before, so my numbers were untrustworthy.

Here's mine:

It’s to heat the oil faster and cool it as well if you are towing or anything but it’s useless for cooling as it’s very small. . I just removed mine from my 2017 and oil pressure went up by 2psi. Oil temp warm is down by 10°f as well.

I installed a kit originally from transdapt and switched over to the improved racing kit when I removed the heater assembly.

Living here in the salt belt, I take lemons and make lemonade: I wipe off the used oil that runs all over the PS unit and use that to wipe down the frame and undercarriage while I'm under there a rust preventative.

My truck is a Pentastar so I have the cartridge on top BUT! I change the oil on my company car and my moms and a couple friends. My favorite is... a Newks Eatery plastic cup. You get them free and they're perfect to slide over and soft enough to grip. Once I use my hand to break loose the filter, I slide the cup on, squeeze and twist until it comes off.

Nicely done. What did you do with the coolant hoses? Just connect them together?
