My truck had thrown an initial P0463 code (fuel level sensor high) after installing a dash cam hard wire kit with fuse taps. The initial fuses I removed for power were the underhood light F60 and Ignition module F51 for constant power and accessory power. I moved the accessory power to a sunroof fuse F66 and cleared the codes. I drove the truck for a few days without issue. On Wednesday I went to start the truck and it died after about 30 seconds. I figured it was the battery since I had the doors open and ignition on for a good while the weekend before.

I put in a new battery Thursday morning and similarly it only ran for about 30 seconds. The code that popped up was U0100, PCM comm error. I disconnected the battery for a while but same issue. I checked continuity on all fuses and don't see any breaks. I swapped the headlight and the ignition relay and no change. Any thoughts on how the fuse taps and comm error could be related?

I did. I yanked all of the fuse taps and anything else. It did the same thing. Dies after 30 seconds and won't start again or even attempt to start. Lots of warning messages on the dash such as "Service Power Steering", "Service Trailer Brake Controller".

Thanks. It's at the dealer right now. I'm hoping it is something very simple I overlooked.

Unfortunately a perfect example of why I caution people on just tapping in on newer vehicles. CAN bus vehicles are very sensitive to voltage and anything that messes with connections. Hopefully they find you haven't done any permanent or expensive damage.

They did find a loose ground but also a potential fuel pump issue. I had loosened the ground by the fuse box to add a negative wire and didn't tighten it after I moved it to another spot in the cab. I don't see how adding a fuse tap would cause a can bus issue but who knows.
