Has anyone color matched their chrome bumpers or thought about it. Preferably a black truck would be a good example. Im not too sure if it would look good or not and I cant find any good pictures on google.

Ive seen pictures of it, yes. And it looks amazing. I seriously want to find someone to swap with me. Their front and rear chrome bumpers for my front and rear painted 1 piece bumpers.

Most people choose to vinyl wrap their 2 piece bumpers to make them paint match. Not sure why but its a route alot of Ram owners take. Im pretty sure its got something to do with the chrome and all the prep work required to properly paint it.

Ill see if i can find a few pics i have.

Im dying to do a paint matched 2500 front end on my 1500 reg cab.... ughhh...

And this is exactly what id like to do to mine. 2013+ 2 piece bumper. Then vinyl wrap the lower half of the truck from the rocker panels down. I think this just looks so damn good. Id most likely throw in the Rigid Industries Dual LED Pod Fog Lights Instead.

The paint will not last on chrome. I bought the black bumper and grille from the salvage yard and had it color matched

What do you guys think should I color match my bumpers? I'm kind of on the fence about the idea. I'm just not sure how it would look.

off topic, but Doug I love those wheels. I wish they made them in a 20" rather than 22s.

I’m in the process of swapping over my chrome for color matched. I got all the parts but waiting for spring for the swap. Picked up new paint matching and shipped to my door from a company on eBay. $1k for the lower steel front and a complete rear with all the plastic, brackets and lighting ready to bolt on. Painting chrome is not fun as there is a ton of prep work and nothing to say the paint will stay. I opted for all new, and I don’t love the sport front bumper.

@blackbetty14 your new bumpers look awesome! Can't wait to see them on your truck. I prefer the steel bumper but I don't want all that chrome. I want to put the Rough Country fender flares on my truck (see attached image) but I think I have to go with the Sport style bumper because there is no separation on the plastic bumper compared to the two piece bumper. IDK if the tiny gap where the (lower) metal bumper meets the (upper) plastic fascia will cause an issue with these fender flares...?
Also, who was the "company on ebay?"

So after getting the new front upper bumper as well I can tell you not to use the 1 peice front flare. The plastic upper isn't really held on by that much on the front where it overlaps the steel lower. I can manually easily move the upper plastic with my fingers so I think it would look odd especially with the gap there as well.

Bumpers I ordered through MBIAUTO on ebay... they have a store. I also picked up a quart of color matched base and 2k clear for the front upper bumper plastic and grille that I'm replacing as well. I've ordered the color matched cans and they are spot on but due to the size and cost of the parts I'm opting to spray these with my actual painting equipment. MBI offers paint matched sport bumper as well. Getting the color matched cans or quarts and good clear will look great if you color match the flares with whatever you decide to move forward with.

You can swap the front to the sport and its basically a bolt on. You have to swap a few of the brackets behind the bumper and add an impact bar and the cost comes out to about as much as replacing the steel bumper. I had a 2014 express with the sport bumper and didn't love it and I also prefer the steel bumper.

Well i want a painted steel bumper and those exact fender flares. I really like the look of the flare coming all the way down compared to stopping at the bottom of the headlight or the ones that stop at the top of the steel bumper (like yours.) No disrespect to anyone that have those styles.

Does anyone know if the Rough Country fender flares would work with a steel bumper or will I have to go with the plastic Sport bumper?

No offense taken. I think you could install them but you will have a gap where the metal lower and upper plastic meet and the flare overlaps.

Theres a similar thread on the first page in the exterior forum talking about a similar thing. One guy has the full length with the sport bumper (what your looking at) and I can't say that I'm a fan... makes the wheel look small for some reason.
