I know a few engine builders are using this tool to groove the lifter bores to get more oil onto the cam lobe and lifter roller.

Kinda like knurling the valve guides, but for a different reason. Would like to see that tool in action and the complete process. Very interesting

Still think some custom mod of installing oil squirters (like the 6.4 piston squirters) would solve the dry cam / roller problem once and for all, unless, of course, a lifter rotated due to a crappy plastic lifter tray.

I've thought for years a squirter of some sort would be the way to go to.Apparently a few of the higher end hi-po engine builders are grooving the Hemi's lifter bores, and have been for quite awhile.I'd also like to see this tool in action to @04fxdwgi

The prototype 5.7 engines had squirters just above the pan rail. They were "aimed" at the cylinder wall.
There was a caution to make sure that they weren't damaged during engine service. They never made it to production in the 5.7.

I don't think they were aimed at the cylinder wall, they were more aimed to the top of the piston and upper rod bearing.
The early 6.1's apparently came with a billet cam, which was also the cam core that Hoover spec'd for the redesigned VVT block ,but the corporate bean counters killed that in a hurry.

You are probably right, I'm working from a 20 something year old memory. That some days slips quicker than the front clutch on an old 904......
