I have been looking to buy a 2500 gaser, but given my location in the north of Canada and this whole pandemic, there are few options available. Seems like lots of diesels around for sale, but it is really hard to find a 6.4, especially f you are picky about certain options.

Anyway, a new 2020 Power Wagon just showed up on my dealer's lot for $70 000 Canadian. Compared to other 2500s with similar options, this seems quite reasonably priced. It is clearly a leftover from last year.

It's pretty well loaded with options, so I am wondering if that is a good price.

Also, I tow a 7500 lb travel trailer and while I know a PW isn't ideal for towing, has anyone had any bad experiences towing travel trailers with a PW?

Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I'm Canadian too and paid 60 000$. It was listed at 64 000$ after the incentives.
Bought in July 2019. Only options is level one luxe ( they all it ) and ramboxes.
At 70 000$ well equipped, in the ''pandemic'', I think you have good price.
Hopes this gives you a ballpark.

As for towing, I pull a 5000 lbs enclosed trailer all week. No problem.
The trouble is starting when adding weight in the back ( atv + camper ). It squat too much.
I installed 250$ Timbren helpers for the 10 times a year I overload.

Many members here have similar weight travel trailers, they'll chime in :dogpile:

You’re at a bit of a disadvantage living that far North. So the price is fair. I think you could get a similar or better price for a 2021 if you took a small plane to Edmonton for something with the same options. But Some dealers are not discounting any PW right now due to the shortage. It looks good. I like the red. https://www.auroradodge.com/inventory/new/2020-ram-2500-yellowknife-northwest-territories/18483380

I’m in Red Deer, AB and waiting for a factory ordered 2021 Black PW with the 75a package.

Lol, why do people think that the Power Wagon’s have “trouble” pulling a load? It’s still a 2500 Heavy Duty full frame truck. Sure payload and tow rating is lower than other in class trucks and some 1500’s properly equipped will tow as much or more on ratings. But let’s call this ******** when we hear it. No other truck built today can compete with the total versatility of the Power Wagon, it tows, it hauls, it has 3 locker’s front, rear and transfer case, has front sway disconnect a factory winch and the “Heritage” and stance that all other trucks don’t.
It seems like people can’t say Wow nice truck without adding a negative about it to try and appear more reasonable or not seem too ego-statistical about owning or wanting to own one.
When people tell me Wow nice truck, I reply damn right it is.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the info. Udy, good to hear you have had no towing issues. I wonder how those air bags would do in -40 C winters...

Anyway, I am off for a test drive today!

Um, no air bags unless you buy aftermarket ones.

I guess I’d try to mount the compressor somewhere to keep it warmer! Keep up on draining any moisture whenever possible!

I am going for it! Going to buy the PW and dealer will install the air bags and compressor. Very excited!

BTW, with the manual 4 Wd shifter, do you guys shift on the fly?

Yep. You can **** into 4 high at most any speeds. 4 low requires a slow roll in neutral, though.

Foot off the gas so your rears aren't spinning faster than the fronts and shift away...

Not sure I want to **** in the truck...;)

For OP though, you'll be good to go towing a decent load as long as you set up for it, which for most RVs means a good WD hitch.

Doh! I didnt catch that lololololol

Thanks guys! Yes, I use a weight distributing hitch, and with the air bags I’ll have the PW sitting up nice and level. I pick the new rig up on Saturday.
