I am sure it must be pretty simple, but I have a new shifter ball to replace the stock unit in my 2011 Sport with center console. How do I remove the existing stock unit. It feels like the passenger side trim piece might be able to be pried off to access some type of set screw?

no trim has to be removed. There is a "Chrome" part under the handle. Shove that down and the handle will come right off. :D

Pics of the new shifter??

Sorry for the delay on the reply. Finally took a picture of the new shifter. Shortened the shaft by about an inch for fitment. I like the start. Planning on adding a matching dash kit and planning to color match the silver trim to the truck.

I know this thread is dead, but is there any way to remove the circular trim pieces on each side of the stock shifter? For painting purposes. Or am I better off just taping around them?

It pops right off. Just takes some time and a steady hand. Use a trim tool for best results. Just be careful as it can break fairly easy from what I've heard. Pulled mine and painted, couldn't stand that chrome.

Nice shift knob BTW. I need to find a sweet red one. :)

I used a butter knife and carefully pulled mine off. I painted it flat black and it's so much better. I hated the chrome, it always blinded me

I figured out the shifter coming off but how do you remove this so I can remove the whole shift assembly. I have bad bushings and need to replace the whole thing. Basically there is slip when in Drive I can push it up towards neutral almost all the way before it shifts.
