I was looking for whatever could be making the mildew smell inside the truck. Found nothing so looked under the hood.
Poking around under the hood and pull the coolant reservoir dipstick and its DRY. No leaks. Very odd. Any thoughts?

refil and check for leak coming out under truck, they may have a external leak port to keep it from going in truck, but smell gives it away.

Fill the reservoir and check the radiator if it's full. If you buy the concentrated OAT coolant, use either distilled or deionized water to dilute. When was the last time you checked the level? If the coolant was leaking into the cab, you would most like have a "sweet" smell in the cab.

Seriously i get nervous when people talk of coolant going missing, that not good.

I get the same nervousness when i see moisture just above my defrost vents in my other two cars sometimes,

To the OP, put some more coolant in there and keep watching.

And if you havent just do the 3rd brake light fix, so easy.

Technically the dipstick you are referring to is in the overflow tank. The smell may or may not be related. Do you ever smell coolant after driving? I just got done replacing a radiator on mine, the resistor was seeping at the bottom passenger corner where it crimps together. I could smell the sweet collar smell after drives that were long enough to get the engine to full operating temps. I noticed the seeping underneath during an oil change near where the bottom radiator cover is, and near the tow hook mounting area.

I would check your coolant in the radiator. Do when cool. The water pump is another culprit for minor leaks, as well as the many hose connections.

As others have mentioned you could have just a water leak from rain, etc, from window seals or third brake light. That gives more of a musty smell compared to the sweet odor of coolant.

Sounds like your other 2 cars might have bad heater core. Foggy vents, damp & slippery passenger floor and that sweet smell. Been there. Don't want to ever be there again.
