coolant refractometer recommendation???

just did a coolant flush.tested with a hydrometer but i dont trust its accuracy.i am looking to purchase a refractometer.i was looking on amazon ,there are several for around 20 bucks but i have never used one and i dont want to end up with a pc. of **** that is less accurate than my hydrometer.i would prefer a farenheight reading and i am running zerex g05.any help would be greatly appreciated.

More than you ever wanted to know about the two technologies. Refractometer can be very accurate but both technologies are temperature dependant.

I just received this one. The price is right and gets good reviews. The only negative is its coolant is in Celsius but that's just an inconvenience. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but so far I'm impressed. I primarily bought it to read DEF quality.

Thanks for that post. I did not see the F version when I ordered. I am going to send my C version back for a F version replacement

thank you for posting this.it was very informative and that co. is only about 20 min. from my house.my refractometer will be here on tues. it will be nice to have peace of mind when it hits single digits here soon.

LOL. I Like the ad for that one. It shows a sealed AGM battery so I am not sure how you would use it test the battery electrolyte.

I didn't notice that back then when I bought it so maybe they changed the ad. Atleast it's an acid battery and they didn't show a lithium ion.
I used it to see the condition of my golf car batteries' cells. I see it's a couple more bucks now too.

thats the one i just bought.i pd. about 2.00 more but whatever.pretty f----- up how prices fluctuate so much on amazon.i just found out about the "honey"app that can help you keep an eye on that ****.very glad i bought a refractometer,my hydrometer was off about 20 degrees.i now have my anti freeze mix at -40 f which is about 52%..also checked my rain x windsheild fluid just for the hell of it since it measures that too.the label says -20 f i got +10 f.so either this refractometer is not accurate or more likely rain x is full of ****.

I believe the refractometer instructions tells you how to check the accuracy and calibrate it using distilled water

I think it will be fine, I ordered one that just does DEF, it was about 25 bucks, I would be more leery of a 3 in 1 or a 4 in 1 without knowing more about them. Irregardless they all work on PH measurement so it shouldn't be an issue, I'm pleased with mine, & yes they can be calibrated with distilled water and are very easy to read.
