That's hot in my opinion. I didn't even get that high in the summer when my 180 thermo went out. Around 220's max.

Kind of glossed over some of the longer responses, but I didn't see anyone mentioning the thermostat burp valve or wishbone valve, forget what it's specifically called. If you do check the thermo and take the housing off, make sure the little metal jingle valve in the main body of the thermo is at the 12 o'clock position.

Yes, burping the system to get air out does make a difference. I know from experience, was about a ten degree difference.

Next time it runs hot, pop the hood & see if the electric fan is running. It should be if its that hot and should be on steady if running the AC.

i live in seabrook tx and my collant might get to 212 but as soon as it does it goes gight back down to 205 my oil is 215 if i get on it real hard it will go to 222 but then right back down to 215/217 (1 time oil got to 228- but it was back to back 105 mph runs just to see how hot it would get)

looks to high in my opinion- if i idle my coolant will be 205 max and oil will be 208 and thats a long idle in 100 degree temps
Just went from FL to NC and took these of my EVIC in SC cruising at 72 mph.

Mileage hand calculates at 21 mpg, I forgot to jot the mileage down when I filled up.

2015 Ram 1500 QC 5.7L 8 spd 2wd, 124k miles. Bone stock.

If you're running 203 with "no" thermostat, with an extra front mounted pusher fan, you'd be better off throwing a 180 t-stat into it,as the trucks run cooler then that by a long shot with a 180 t-stat.Most trucks with a 180 run right around 185F.Taking the thermostat right out and not putting a restrictor plate back into the thermostat hole to slow the coolant speed down, usually means the coolant circulates to fast through the engine to actually absorb the heat from the block and heads

I put my 180 in and I’m running about 185-195 with 100 degree outside temps.

Here are my temps right when I pulled into my garage after work. My truck has a complete ags delete and 180 degree tstat

Pay no mind mind to my mpg, there is tons of construction near my house right now. Really annoying!

Good point about the restrictor might try that thanks..i just wanted to show here that the stock factory electric fan on its own is more than enough to cool this beast in extreme heat didnt even need the pusher fan.. that front pusher fan is just an after though to make my AC a lil colder.

Update …. Temp gauge was still going to 220-228. The Fan was working as normal and turned on when the coolant temp reached 220.

I purchased a 180 thermostat and a bottle of 50/50 mopar coolant and changed the thermostat. Three days in so far and the truck sits around 180-190 during normal traffic and when I’m idling for an extended period of time such as when I’m at my kids school to pick them up , it sit between 185 and 200 . With the AC on high 205-210.

Also to add , for some reason the truck is driving much smoother now.

Good to hear. It probably likes those cooler temps.
