Towed a trailer full of hay home, engine felt a little warm, engine coolant normal on dash, went to the towing and trailering section on my digital screen and the coolant temp showed 419F with engine off in the ACC position. All other parameters in normal range. Later after breathing a little bit, if I switch to "run" but don't start the truck or if I start the truck the gage returns to normal temperature. Dealer states because it works when engine runs it's just wonky and an anomaly when in the off or ACC position. Something to do with the PCM but not worth swapping parts. The coolant gage readout on the off road section does not do the same but I think its the same sensor, just a different screen. Appreciate any thoughts.

I see you have a 2024 so why is it not covered under the 3/36 warranty or are you well past the 36K an don't have an extended warranty? If you have warranty why does the dealer not fix it? IF no warranty then you either live with it or get an aftermarket set up to monitor engine temps...

Dealer claims its not a problem as the only time this happens is when you turn off the engine or monitor gauges in the ACC position. Haven't been able to determine the full scope of testing they did (or are capable of doing) on the program circuitry. They did check a used 2024 RAM 2500 on the lot and it does the same thing so its considered "normal". Two trucks doing the same thing, but nobody else has ever noticed it or reported it, that's a good baseline for sound judgement, NOT. They are reaching out to RAM engineering.
The same sensor indicates on three separate readouts and only one readout fails high when truck is turned off. That isn't "normal". Not how RTDs and thermocouple sensors work. Something wrong with the programming for the towing display vs the off road display but now I wait until an engineering, not a warm and fuzzy feeling.

If "normal" why doesn't it happen to every 2024 RAM 2500 truck in America? Or any other year/model combination.

If it had been me and they told me another truck on the lot did the same thing, I would have said well I'm from Missouri, you need to show me that what you said was true before I will believe it...
