CP3 injection pump failure

Lot of traffic on the web about the CP3 injection pump failing (even exploding) around the 100K mark. This leads to a rebuild costing somewhere between $7,000 and $18,000. I'm talking about the 6.7 diesels from 2007 to 2018. Is this hyperbole.

Why not preemptively just replace the thing about then - and not worry about it

Never heard of a cp3 exploding and very very very rarely see one fail. Do you mean the CP4 in the 19-20 trucks maybe? That's what has been getting all the discussion for the past 2 years.

Even the modified version of the CP4.2 in the 19-20 Cummins (or EcoDiesel for that matter) are not failing around 100K miles. This "rumor" floating around on the internet is just that, someone will report a failure on multiple sights and from there it takes on a life of it's own that multiple trucks just had a failure.
I've heard similar rumors about the turbos failing at 100K also.

model years 19 20 have the cp4 pump. cp3s are very reliable. ram went back to the cp3 in the new trucks... cheers!

I've never seen CP3 pump explosions being discussed before, I guess anything is possible, but that pump is pretty bullet proof
