CP4.2 fuel pump class action lawsuit

Here is a link to a CP4.2 fuel pump class action lawsuit that owners with that pump can sign up at. To me, it is almost criminal that to date, we continue to hear "we don't have a fix for it yet."

The problems is those who had pervious recalls done, the computer code they used to update those recalls will not play nice with the new computer code they need to install when they replace the CP4, word had it when installing the new code will Brick the computer so they are trying to find a workaround to this problem and if they can't find one then they will need to write new code for each individual truck ...

Nevertheless, they have still had a very l o n g time to figure that out.

The problems with different computer codes fighting each other just came up recently.... BTW for those who still have running truck they can either sit wait and worry or they can install a S&S no code replacement pump and then ask FCA for reimbursement...

I had heard FCA will no longer reimburse one's own fix

I took mine in and had it replaced. If you don't want the "4", get it replaced under recall.

So, I just used my ARAG legal assistance program to have an attorney go after them. Here is a picture of a Bosch CP4.2 after catastrophic failure. After, without warning, the engine shuts down, the steering wheel locks, and you have no power brakes, look out! If your towing a 35,000 5th wheel when this happens, imagine the carnage.

EVERY Ram Dealership is legally responsible to fulfill the Recall Notice. FCA is FCA everywhere. No going around, shopping for dealerships. Won't do it. I'll just let my attorney get me a brand new 2022 3500. This time, in fire engine red and I'll go with the standard output 6.7, with 358 gears. Much better fuel economy.

To be sure. Somebody really messed up big time when that CP4.2 fuel pump was designed

Hi all- I just experienced the "shut down". Here is my story and I would love advice. I went into my dealership last month to ask about getting everything on my truck checked out as well as an oil change with fuel filter change as I am planning to hit the road in July for a cross country trip with my 5th wheel. I was told I was next on the list for the fuel pump swap out and to wait and they would do it all at the same time. I told them I didn't want to wait too long because I wanted to make sure if they found anything, I would have time to get the parts and repair completed before I went. I was assured it would be within the month. Well.... this last Saturday I was hauling my brand new beautiful 5th wheel and the dash lit up with "Service Electric Throttle Control" and then "Exhaust System Service Required See Dealer". And- then I had no acceleration. THANKFUL I was able to pull off somewhat safely on the side of the interstate. Then it died. 4 hours waiting for 2 tow trucks and sitting in the blazing sun and praying my set up wouldn't get hit by the semi trucks flying by I survived. I called yesterday for an update at the dealership and was told, yep- it was the CP4 fuel pump and that they had to wait to see what Ram wanted to do. I know they are responsible for the replacement of the pump, fuel lines and injectors but I will be honest- I am concerned this caused more damage and I will be stranded on the side of the road again. Not to mention- I am down a vehicle. I am a recent widow with a kid still at home and I need my truck! So my question to all of you knowledgeable Ram owners- how do I proceed? Do I just go along with their way, whatever that is? I would like to go into this with some knowledge. Any advice welcome.

Dealer will replace the old CP 4 with a new CP 3.x pump along with new lines, injectors and new filters and I recall they are also to clean the fuel tank, fyi the CP 3.x pump is a very reliable fuel pump you should have no worries so long as they don't Fu Bar installing the new computer code...

They called me tonight and said it would be at least 2 weeks- I asked for a rental car and they said they didn't have any. I said that needs to be remedied by tomorrow as this isn't my fault. They should at least do that for me correct?
