Mine are crap too. I cant remote start it if I am not closer then 25 feet. My Caprice I can start from inside my house which much further. Both of them are OEM.

wow, i cant believe guys are having issues with their fobs. My fob on my 2010 silverado was complete crap with terrible range. The one on my 2015 ram works from 100-150 feet away or more. Lock, unlock, remote start and so on. I'm very happy with mine.

My 2016 FOB works well, at least 100 feet.

Mines crap as well. Just changed the battery and no change. Lock, unlock, and panic are flawless. Remote start though is very temperamental.

With my '13 one fob always locked the doors and the other remote started the truck. After replacing batteries several times I think i have found they are both very sensitive. With both remotes, if i hold them from the bottom no issue. Once i just lightly touch the buttons the one fob locks the doors and the other would remote start. I am going to try and take them apart over the next few days and look closer at the buttons.

Mine are VERY dependent on line of sight. If in a clear parking lot I have several hundred feet. Inside my garage with a wall and shelves in place? I often must hit it 2-3X. The remote start seems especially "challenged" when it needs two quick hits.

put it to your chin and open your mouth

:)
I dont think you need to open your mouth. lol. I have been holding my remotes up to my jaw to extend the range for years.

I read about it once and thought it was BS. It actually does extend the range. I hold the remote against the back corner of my jaw and look up towards the vehicle. I can remote start from a much farther distance using this method.

Mine works great, I remote start pretty much every time I start it.
It works from inside my house about 100 feet from the truck and I have started it many times from inside Lowes or Home Depot with the truck 200 or 300 feet away.

I do the same thing and have been for years, your body acts as an antenna. Not sure how much it extends the range but it's never failed me.

My range sucks as well. I've tried all of the tricks such as holding under jaw, etc. What I have noticed is that when my remote start doesn't seem to work, I can get the doors to lock/unlock. So when my FOB is within range to open the doors, the remote start doesn't work unless I get even closer.

THAT seems like a software problem. I've tested this on my regular FOB and the backup that has rarely been used. I replaced both batteries before starting the key FOB tests on my 2015.

Mine is the exact same way. I once started mine standing on a sand dune @jockeys ridge park in OBX from a few hundred yards away but walking through a crowded parking lot i practically need to be on top of it

Mine will start usually 300 plus feet away but I did notice yesterday that it wouldn't start until I was around 100 feet away. This was in a crowded parking lot.

Missed this thread!

Sometimes mine will work from a football Field away, other times I have to be right next to the truck. I’m sitting in the dealership for the 3rd time right now...

That's fine for now (assuming you have the free trial) but will you keep the phone app when you have to pay for it? I think they wanted 15 - 20 bucks a month. Besides I was always afraid of " butt starting" my truck...:D

So far my 2018 works perfect and as far as I can see the truck. It seems most complaints are the older fobs, 14,15 and 16 models.

I’m not really sure if I’ll keep the app or not. I don’t really need it. It’s kind of a novelty. I can see areas where it’s really nice to have but who knows...
