Well, it’s been an interesting few weeks… I sold my 2016 Sport and bought a 2024 Laramie Night Edition. Exactly two weeks later, I was rear ended while switching lanes. A car went under my right rear bumper, lifted the rear of my truck, and pushed the ass end out to the left. I lost control, ran over a curb, and landed on the drivers side in a fence at the bottom of a short steep hill.. I managed to climb up and out the passenger side of the truck. The only injury I had was a bruise on my calf.

Aside from dealing with the loss of my new truck, I had a terrible time coming to terms with replacing the 2024 HEMI with a 2025 Hurricane. I was completely against the idea of buying one. Which is why I bought one of the last 2024’s in my area. In short, I was impressed after taking a 2025 on a test drive. I had to sit back and convince myself to give it a chance and bought it. All in, the only thing I miss is the V8 rumble on a cold start in the morning. And the only thing I dislike is the low fuel light engaging at just under 1/3 of a tank. After some quick research, it seems they do this to help prevent the fuel tank from getting too low for the fuel pump. Apparently keeping it at or above 1/3 tank helps prolong the life of the pump by keeping it cool. Regardless, I’m liking the 2025 more than the 2024. It just wasn’t as much fun to buy given the circumstances..

Edit: I made an error regarding low fuel at 1/3 tank, it was actually 1/4. See my post with pics on page 2.

sure sounds like that low fuel light is a great way to cover up a design flawMaybe, who knows..
Maybe, who knows.. All I know is that you can't use remote start if your gas light is on.. Again, not a concern but annoying nonetheless.. At first I thought a check engine light was preventing remote start. That's how it worked on my 2016 Sport.. But once I got in I realized it was because of the gas light. It was a relief but still annoying with just under 1/3 tank of gas..

Glad you are OK and Good Luck with yer new truck. Watch that "moon" roof, RAM has bad luck in the past on those things leaking. U got the SO Motor, here is a lil HINT. Do not run 87 regular, run at least 89 Mid Grade. Other than that, good luck again on yer new ride. Drive it and maintain it and enjoy.

ADDED: 1/3 fuel light, hmmm, maybe a reflash, but I am always leery when the Dealer reflashes to fix something, as they usually screw up something else. They did (6) upgrades to my truck reflashing in 2023 and ended up with an issue that never got resolved, but alas, truck runs and works. And it is a Hemi.

ADDED: Seeing pics of your ride on it's side was painful for sure.

DA BOIRD.

Agreed. Requiring an owner to keep the tank above 1/3 would be stupid. Maybe, just maybe, I might accept that if submerged electric fuel pumps were new technology. Something doesn't sound right here.

Laramine's only come with the SO. Only the highest trim levels come with the HO. Hopefully that changes in subsequent model years.

Correct ref gas light, open door, unlatched hood, etc etc not even counting the MIL light.

I had changed and reworded it but after yer post, hee hee. WHY I suggested he run midgrade due to some posts ref fuel issues. My son as U know has a leased Bighorn and he ran 89 Grade from NJ, to FL, side trips, back to NJ. Said truck ran great and he enjoyed the ride and no issues. GUESS time will only tell on this new iteration of the RAM truck and the longevity and reliability of the new platform.

Mine is the same way, but my light doesn't come on untill there's 50 miles or so left on the tank, 1/3 of a tank on a 1500 is what, 150 miles ?

That's just ridiculous

I wonder if you can turn that setting off in alfaOBD

Correct, it should light up under 50 miles range. When I first got the truck it was averaging 15mpg. I am now averaging 17.5 mpg after manual reset. I have a 26 gallon tank. For some reason it shows only 55 miles range at 1/3 tank. I drove 16 miles to work this morning. It still showed 55 miles range when i got to work. I'm wondering if the system is still trying to calibrate. Regardless, the gas light is on above 50 miles range. I have only filled it twice, from 1/3 tank to full. I am going to drive it longer before filling it again to see if something calibrates.

I don't see anything specific to low fuel warning in version 2.5.2.0 using MY2019 PowerNet.

UPDATE;

I found 4 locations for LFW (low fuel warning) calibrations. In AlfaOBD MY2019 PowerNet the settings are identified as;

Cluster-Fuel Tank 1 Calibration, LFW datum for Fuel Voltage 1
Cluster-Fuel Tank 1 Calibration, LFW

Cluster-Fuel Tank 2 Calibration, LFW datum for Fuel Voltage 2
Cluster-Fuel Tank 2 Calibration, LFW

These are the options listed under Cluster-Fuel Tank 1 (or 2) Calibration, LFW;

This would essentially turn a 26 gallon tank into a little less than an 18 gallon tank if you rely on being able to use remote start. And I thought the 23 gallon tank I had on a previous truck was small :emotions34:

I'm curious if it cuts power when the low fuel light comes on.Some of the cars like the 1320 Challengers lose alot of their functions like trans brake / line lock and they also seriously reduce power as soon as the low fuel light comes on.On them it's supposedly done to keep the engine from hurting itself by leaning out

I haven’t noticed anything like that, nor have I seen anything to suggest that in the owners manual.

The cars manuals don't tell you that,it's what us owners of the cars discovered ourselves,lol. Then a few guys went digging and one guy talked to Jim Wilder when he was still head of the SRT program,and he told us it was a designed in feature so the cars didn't hurt themselves,by leaning out the engine.

Ugh, seeing those pics of a new Ram mangled up on a fence.. That hurts. Just curious, did the airbags blow? My wife was in an accident a few months ago and was seriously burned (chemical burn) on her hands and wrist when the airbag activated.

Hope the Hurricane works out for you. Please report back if you happen to locate the oil dipstick. :p

Sorry to hear of your loss, how did the rear pass wheel become disconnected and in the ditch , that seems very odd.
Wish you good luck and no issues with your new truck.
