I have a new 2013 2500 diesel. There is supposed to be a light on the dash that lets you know when it is safe to start your engine. I have yet to see this light come on and do not know what it looks like. Maybe it is not cold enough here in the south for it to need to come on. Can someone take a picture of the light so I know what it looks like? Thanks in advance

this is what it looks like, it's called a "wait to start" WTS light or a glow plug light. it should be on the lower center section of your instrument panel. I beleive it should come on every time you start, the time it stays on should vary depending on ambient temperature. the owners manual says to wait for the light to go out prior to engine start, some people don't wait during summer months, I wait every time, it's only a second or two in the summer.

Mine does not have any light like that and it is 30 degrees so it should come on I would think

I just called my Ram dealer and they said that the new diesels don't have the light.

The following information is right out of the online 2014 6.7 CTD "diesel supplement manual" pages 199 & 200

Pretty sure my 2014 Cummins has a WTS light, but I will have to check to be sure, but the manual says I do.

NOTE: The temperature displayed in the Electronic
Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) does not necessarily
reflect the engine manifold air temperature. Refer to
“Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC)” in “Understanding
Your Instrument Panel” for further information.
When engine temperatures fall below 66°F (19°C)
the “Wait To Start Light” will remain on indicating the
intake manifold heater system is active.
Follow the steps in the “Normal Starting” procedure
except

1. The “Wait To Start” telltale will remain on for a period
of time that varies depending on the engine temperature

2. While the Wait To Start” telltale is on, the EVIC will
additionally display a gauge or bar whose initial
length represents the full Wait To Start time period.
Its length will decrease until it disappears when the
Wait To Start time has elapsed.

3. After the “Wait To Start” telltale goes off, turn the
ignition switch to the START position. Do not press the
accelerator during starting.

That is what I have been reading as well but my truck does not have the light. I have just been waiting about 10 seconds before I crank the truck. According to my local RAM dealer the new trucks do not have the light. They recommended to wait 10 seconds to start the truck.

I'll let you know for sure tomorrow, I'll check my truck tonight to see if I have it.

I checked my truck dash and I have the light on the 2014 CTD, maybe the 2013 doesn't have it but I think it would as well, not sure your dealer is telling you the truth. Here is a picture of it and its location on the dash. Hope this helps.

Maybe CSotty89 could provide a photo of his dash so we can see where his WTS light is located.
