I have started my 2018 many times with those temps and I have never had any issues. Per the manual you really do not need to plug it in until the temps get into single digits.

If you are going from a warm area where they are still selling untreated #2, you may think about some anti-gel to lower the cloud point.

Otherwise they'll start without the grid warmer at those temps.

True dat, my daughter and her family live in Rapid City, she loves it there, I pull the camper there for three weeks every other year, always have a great time. She’s always trying to get me to move there, I’m tempted…SD is really Veteran friendly, that’s a huge plus for me or any Vet

The pickup will start fine in those temps. However, since it has a block heater already, plug it in over night. Cold starts cause a lot more wear so anything you can do to reduce that helps. I plug in all vehicles parked outdoors, gas or diesel, at 32F or below. They also warm up to full operating temperature and pump out heat a pot load faster when plugged in.

we use my 2500 dsl for travel and took it last year to Red River N.M. for some skiing. 0-5* every night and 8500' elevation. after sitting several days and nights, had no problem starting.

It's not even cold, it gets to -30 quite often in the winter here in Alberta, for quicker warm up, turn your engine brake on. You don't need to worry about anti-gel either, never needed it.
And the reason you don't normally need anti gel additive in Canada is because the fuel you buy has been either already treated or mixed with #1
