If they can flash the ECM with updates whenever they want, there goes your tuning.

It is unlikely anyone will crack the security code of the ECM for reprogramming. It will be like the current ECU on the ECODiesels GEN 3. The days of tuning are sailing into the sunset.

Cracking codes or sending your PCM in to swap it for a programmed one may be pointless if they can just randomly send out a reflash. Imagine you deleted your 2025 and a month later go out and start it and it lights up the dash like a Christmas tree. And since it's a new engine design you know an older PCM won't be swappable.
Like you said, it may be coming to an end.
