Hi and what's up fellas.

First post so I thought I may as well start a thread about my truck. Picked it up about 10 days ago. 2016 Outdoorsman with 58k on the clock. Spent 24K on it which if you know anything about FL pricing it's a great deal.

Anyway I plan on posting updates to it as I work on it to make it mine.

Tonight's updates to it.

Rebadged to black lettering. The only thing that bugs me is the Outdoorsman emblem.is still chrome and black. If I can't find one for sale I guess I'll have to start producing them myself.

Did the Bilstein 5100's @2.8 today. New power stop brakes arrive tomorrow. Hopefully I can get those knocked out before next weekend.

Well picture update this go around. This weekend the brakes were updated to the PowersStop K2164-36 kit. Drilled and slotted with ceramic pads. The I assume factory discs were warped pretty bad at least from my standpoint. And while I could have had them turned, I wanted a little more tooth when grabbing the rotors\. That and Amazon had the kit for $200 less than even summit.

Done.

No pics yet for this week but I installed 1 inch aluminum spacers in the rear. With the bilsteins at 2.8 the rear was a bit low. Don't care for the Carolina sag look.

Anyway that's it for this week.

After riding around in the 21 Pacifica Hybrid on my trip to the NAGA Miami championships last weekend I really came to appreciate the wireless Qi charging. So I decided to add it to the Ram.

I didn't have any Deutsch connectors on hand so I used the only thing I had weatherpac(ish) connector. I wanted connectors as I plan to remove the micro USB connector and replace it with a soldered connection to the board and I think it should be able to be removed without having to cut wires again. Also wanted a way to insert a buck converter inline incase the Qi charger can't handle the 12V system even though it's rated for it.

I like to simply use a pair of wire strippers to peal back the insulation rather than cutting the wires and splicing. To place in the new wires I simply used open barrel u-crimps. Please ignore the crappy crimps but I was rushed for time and I was limited on space.

The wires were stripped in a staggered manner on purpose. Just incase the insulating tape or shrink wrap used moves the two splices are unlikely to immediately make contact and short. I do this on every splice I do.


The coil is going to live in the bottom of the center console well. I'll eventually I'll get a JST connector and run the coil wires through the console and mount the electronics on the bottom. Even with the pcb and coil in the bottom it's relatively invisible.

So I do alot of night time driving, only about 70 miles a day but a good solid chunk is in the dark. My son spends a lot of time on the mats at Judo and BJJ practices and the return trip is almost 10pm, and in the winter it's dark going to and from. Anywho. During my trips I've noticed the state patrol here uses red interior lighting. I spoke with a trooper and basically he said it helps with night vision in as much as it doesn't make you night blind.

Being that I'm usually on the road at night and my son is always turning on the dome light to dig in the snack bag for drinks and munchies after a workout I decided to give red lighting a shot.

It's different having the red dome and map lights, but they're effective. I also don't find myself asking him to turn the light off as quickly now. Maybe it's a placebo effect, but I don't find the light as irritating while we're moving on the interstate. For now I'm going to keep 'em.

Technically I haven't made any updates this week but parts are accumulating. And I guess I'mgoing Bro truck.

Was on the hunt for new tires when I stumbled across a set of 5 Black Rhino Raze wheels in 18x10 for $600 brand new in boxes. As luck would have it Walmart just happened to have Yokohama X-AT's in 295/70R18 on sale from $320 each down to $247 each. Pulled the trigger last night on the wheels and tires. The tires will be here next week and I have it scheduled for mount and balance on next Saturday.

So in total I'm in for just over $1900 which is just slightly more than 5 wheels cost at normal price.

I plan on adding pocket flares at some point.

I will have full side pics and wheelwell shots as soon as i get her bathed. But for right now, holy pop Broseph. More than I wanted but less than I thought it would be. Waiting on Lug nuts. The McGard set I bought form member Bigpaul13 don't cut it as I don't have a socket thin enough to fit the Black Rhino lug opening. That sucks because I'k a long time fan of McGard, going back to when I worked for American Racing. I had to grind a 7/8 socket to fit and I'm not comfortable with it should there ever be an emergency. Locks and lock socket fit fine, but the lug opening mics out at 1.145 and anything I have at the smallest was .030" too large. Even the thin walled sockets listed on the search engines are too big.

Meh well. I'll get the new ones here in about an hour and I'll get 'er all shined up later this week and snap a few more.


18x10 Black Rhino Raze in -44, Yokohama X-AT's in 295/70R18. I think Yokohama specs them out at 34.6" tall and 11.8 wide, 9.5" tread width.

Well still no clean shots but hopefully today I can get some.

Did its first oil change since I purchased it in March. Did Mag1 5w-20 with a K&N Gold filter. We'll see how it does.

Also broke out the Bubble gauges and set the the Caster to 4 on both driver and passenger sides. No more rubbing at full lock. Yay.
