Dakota Tranny question

I know it's not a Ram, but I am hoping some of you Dodge Gurus could help me out. My girlfriend's dad is rebuilding her Dakota's transmission, however we are unsure what model it is to order a rebuild kit. I tried Googling it, but I can't find a straight answer. I believe its a 44RE transmission. The truck is a '97 Dodge Dakota Sport 2wd 5.2L with the automatic. Anyone know the the model number for the transmission?

Email Dodge or go to a dealer to get an window sticker, that will tell you for sure what trans it was built with.
