Sure. It still doesn't exist.

See:

They've been running these clickbait articles for years. The telling part is " But what form might a new Dakota take? So far, Stellantis isn't saying."

Here's the 2021 version: https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a35713584/ram-reportedly-still-developing-new-dakota/

2020 version, complete with 'later this year' and expected pricing: https://www.caranddriver.com/ram/dakota

and back to Motortrend with the 2019 version where they claimed it would be launched in 2020: https://www.motortrend.com/news/new-ram-dakota-midsize-truck-renderings-rumors/

All of these are manufactured stories in place of real information to get clicks, which means cash.

So yes, it will be an updated Fiat Strada / Ram 700 like sold in Mexico. Ram has already tested it in the US. Figure it will take them a year to retool the factory to produce it here.

Not that I'm totally opposed. Ford is tearing up the light truck market with Maverick. It's a good size for the urban and suburban crowd who need a comfortable commuter vehicle able to navigate crowded parking lots yet still have capability to get some supplies from the Home Depot or tow a small trailer.

I wonder if they will do anything with the hood/headlights/grill/front fenders to give is a more Ram-like appearance.

Check the C&D article. That has pictures of the updated design. It will be a mini Ram 1500 and wear the corporate front end.

Lol, whatdoyaknow, there it is. The strata is a new one for me so I had actually clicked on that link, was busy at work so I hadn’t made it to the C&D one yet.

What gets me is the delay Stellantis is having bringing this unit to market. It was tested in the US years ago and originally teased as a 2025 model. Which means it should be on US lots right now alongside the new Ram 1500.

Mopar is griping about a limited lineup offering few choices for potential customers. You've got the vehicle already in production elsewhere. All that's needed for the US is some new sheet metal for the exterior. Why the delay of an extra year or two? This should already be a done deal.

I dig the Laramie interior. 2 tone looks sharp, lots of physical buttons below a landscape mode screen that's high enough to be useful.

If they are right on the powertrain being a 1.3L PHEV, I hope there's a pure ICE option and a reasonable entry level price. *IF* they do it right and actually market it so people know it exists it's got potential.

I'm assuming they will use the same engines as found in the Hornet. A pure gas 2.0T and the PHEV 1.3T. That is the only FWD powertrain Mopar has for North America and it should do the job well.
