We recently just got in the Nextbase 122 and it seems to be a very good lower cost camera.

With the NextBase 122, the company packages 720p HD recording capabilities, a 2.0-inch LED color screen, a five-element glass lens and a 120-degree viewing angle into a small, compact dash cam. Combined with the magnetic Click & Go mount, the 122 is as light and compact as it is easy to use, ensuring you can be recording your next journey just minutes after opening the box.

Features:

  • Magnetic Click & Go mount
  • 720p HD recording at 30 fps
  • 2.0-inch LED color screen
  • Five-element glass lens provides 120-degree wide angle
  • Photo mode provides still image option
  • Loop-recording ensures recording will not stop when SD card is full
  • Intelligent parking mode
  • 12-24V DC compatible for use in all vehicles
  • One-time installation
  • Automatic recording
  • Automatic file protection

I have the Kenwood DRV-320, and I like it well enough. Set me back around $100. Takes good video/audio, has built in GPS tracking, speed overlay, motion detection, shock detection and probably other features i dont know about.
Great "set it and forget it" system.
Right now i just have it plugged into my front 12v, with a splitter for my radar detector.

Eventually, once my finances are better, I'm going to hard wire and mount two 2 camera systems. One system for the front and back, one for the sides. Ive looked into it and that setup will cost me around $1000 installed.

Been using the Rexing v1 with the ArmorTek mirror mount since February, purchased both off amazon. Good for the most part, have had to re-plug the camera back in a couple times due to shutting down though which is a slight nuisance. Hoping to not need it but you never know, lots of careless drivers in my town

I went with the BlackVue 750 dual camera system, with their power magic connection - Front and rear 1080 P. Pretty easy to mount, and plenty of space in the headliner to run the cables. The Power Magic adapter plugs into the OBD II port and provides power both when the truck is on and off. The camera has park mode - I have it set to stop at 12 hours or below 12 volts, so it doesn't kill the battery. This also allowed me to avoid going through fire wall and the fuse box, though I did wire it that way at first.

I know there are cheaper options, but all in I like the set up, the free basic cloud account, the ability to view clips on my phone over a wi-fi connection and the super clean install.

Here are a couple of pictures including under hood wiring that I later removed.
