2017 Ram big horn. Only in the morning when the sun is at an angle or when the sun is going down. Sometimes when I drive through tunnels. My dash will flash like crazy. Then when its perfectly dark out its fine, or in the middle of the day its fine. I dont have a hat on the dash covering anything up. I checked all relays and everything. Its like the light sensor acts weird when the sun is rising and setting near dusk and dawn. Just put a new battery in and its still happening. It happens on hot days and cold days. My truck is completely stock. I dont know what it could be.

Possible the sensor is failing but It could just be the effect of lighting in the tunnels. If I had to guess, your headlights are flashing too...

Mine did this about 4 years ago. It would only flicker in bright light conditions and when the headlights were off. If I turned the headlights on it stopped flickering.

I finally got tired of it and bought a used cluster on eBay, which fixed the issue.

I remember researching this problem back then and it was pretty common. If you search for "cluster flickering" on this site, you'll find a weeks worth of reading material.

This is a good point, I guess we should ask (both you and the OP) is/was the whole dash flickering or just the instrument cluster?

Mine was only the evic screen.

It's been a long time, but I seem to remember having taken it apart to diagnose, and deciding replacement was the best option.

Here's a thread on it from when I took it apart to diagnose, in the last two posts of the thread
