Try Seth Wadley in Pauls Valley OK. Bought from them in the past. I have a situation with a Jeep Renegade and a blown transmission. Our local dealership would not honor the Jeep trade assist. Their service department has bent over backwards trying to get the tranny but GM stunk (Foundation Wichita Falls). Called Hank at Seth Wadley and they are working with Jeep right now as I write.

My apologies for going slightly AWOL.......I have been trying to buy a truck six ways from Sunday.

Over the course of last week, I tried to buy FIVE trucks. Admittedly, three were at David Stanley, and you all know how that turned out.

So I tried a different tactic, let's switch to an older truck, but still with low miles. I picked out a '16 Ford F150 Lariat with the 5.0L engine, had 21K miles at North Central Ford in Richardson, TX. That deal didn't come together because at least while we couldn't come to an agreement, this dealer was at least forthright and upfront about things, not at all scuzzy. Whatever, these things happen, we move on.

I had pretty much given up at this point, and was ready to just do some work to the '09 and keep rolling. But my wife found what looked like a showstopper of a deal.
2019 Ram 1500 Laramie, Hemi, fully loaded, non-E Torque, 38,000 miles. Ask was 38,000 bucks at Landers CDJR in Norman, OK.

Seems to check all the boxes, the price is right, I call Landers, we came to an agreement that was right for us both, I went to my credit union, got a check, and drove down on Friday afternoon.

I got to checking this truck out, and it had more issues than National Geographic. To start, wrong FOBIK - no remote start, no power tailgate pop. Suspecting that someone pulled a fast one, I removed the emergency key blade.....it was blank. (No, we can't do anything about this, and we won't discount the truck.)

Then I start it, and it roars to life like a Hellcat Challenger. I ask the salesman "Did someone start one of them Challengers back there when I pushed the button?" "No man, that's THIS!"

Get under it, and I see A LOT of straight piping scabbed in. No muffler. (No, we can't replace the exhaust, or discount the truck.)

Went for a test drive, got on the highway, no MDS activation, and a terrible vibration in the rear of the truck. (No, we can't do anything about this, you're a mechanic, you can fix it.)

38,000 miles, and completely screwed.

Took the check back to my credit union, and bought $400 worth of parts for the big silver slutpuppy. I think I am done.

I could take you to Ford and GM dealerships that would do the same as this Ram dealer.
Exactly. this is an INDUSTRY (auto dealers) problem and not a manufacturer problrm.

I wouldn't buy a new truck right now unless you absolutely need to. if you can wait 4 months I would wait, Chevy just announced halting production a few model trucks because they don't want to sit on a bunch that wont sell. The market is turning now and dealers will be making good deals again, Chevy, GMC, Ford, Ram all are offering factory financing below 1%. This will also cool down the used market. now that being said, I've had similar issues with trade in and I just walk away. i had a ford ranger worth $4800 and KBB trade in was $3200. dealership wanted to give me $500 lol. i told them no way in hell went to another dealership and got a better deal. It is definitely not just one brand of trucks its the induvial dealer ships for sure. dealerships have gone 2 years with getting what they want and over charging and it will come crashing down again.

You reinforce why my last couple vehicles have been new purchases. People dont take care of their cars then hurry up and trade them in when something is going wrong to pass it onto the next person. As for trading in your truck, the dealer isnt going to put a truck that old on their lot they will just send it out to auction, so thats why you are getting some stupid low numbers. Better off trying to sell it on autotrader.

Why I am redoing a 38 year old d150 in my garage here at home. Carburetor, and it will stay.
Bo need to fight stealers, w/o excess unneeded electronics we lived fine without, no stop/start like a golf cart, no deciding for itself it wants to self-put itself in park and engage the e brake,.
I also have a 12, and thas newer than I want.
My wife daily drives an 01 Durango with 307k miles and climbing, and isn't leaving unless it gets crushed by a Sherman tank as long as I can still get parts for it's 360 mag and 46re, I will continue to maintain it and own it.

Interesting. I bought my ‘21 Classic from David Stanley in November of 2021. I saw a ridiculous price advertised on line, and called them to see what the scam was. They said that was the price, so I drove up the next morning.

That was indeed the price (21 Classic quad cab, 2wd, v6, carpet and chrome package- $28,028). Not fancy, but I just needed a simple pickup.

They gave me what KBB said they should for my trade, I gave the rest in cash, and I was on my way.

Now they only had one key, told me they would send the second. Also, I forgot my garage door opener on the visor of my trade. I called them and they overnighted my opener and TWO more programmed keys.

I’m from the DFW area, and had never dealt with them before, but I would give them another shot in the future.

Funny thing: the dealer less than a mile from my house, I wouldn’t touch them with a 10 foot pole. I’d rather get a scooter than have to buy from them. I suppose it’s all a matter of perspective and personal experience.
