Well, that went wicked easy. I didn’t have any problems with the nutsert. I took the advice and put a little of the thread lock underneath where it meets up against the tailgate. I’m not sure if that made a difference or not, but it didn’t hurt.
I wanted to share what precautions I took based on the warnings I read in the forums. Also, see the pictures below…
Underneath the Deezee drop adapter I put some 3M clear body armor film there to help reduce the metal adapter rubbing the truck bed paint off. I also painted the drop adapter black with spray-in liner spray I had laying around. I didn’t like it silver among all the black.
I put more 3M clear body armor film on the Deezee assist strut and on the tailgate where the cable clip rubs. I figured over time, the rubbing would ruin the paint. Where I live, you wouldn’t want that…they don’t call it the Rust Belt for no reason.
Lastly, I put in a neoprene washer in place of the limiter you had to take off for the same reason as above (live in the Rust Belt). I put a tiny bit of thread lock on that bolt because I had to leave it a little loose so the cable will move freely.
I hope my ideas help someone else like you guys help me. Take care.
