I need some help. I recently bought a 16 2500 that was advertised as "deleted and tuned". Being relatively new to the diesel world, I just looked to see if the DPF had been removed and if it was requiring DEF. There was no tuner included, so I can't be sure about the tuned claim. However I recently noticed that the EGR system is all there and all the plugs are plugged in. I don't get any codes except for the grid heater which I disconnected until I get time to install the delete. My question is, is it possible to do a DPF/DEF delete without a tuner and not have the engine throw codes or go in to limp mode? I'd like to do an EGR delete but from what I've read you need to have a tune for it to run correctly. I have an easy lynk , just haven't installed it yet. Just curious as to how it's running fine and have no codes with apparently no tune.

Nope. Not possible.

Was the DPF still there? If yes, it's not deleted or tuned. If no, then it's deleted and is running some sort of tune.

You "can" turn off the EGR valve and throttle valve while leaving them plugged in, but it would require a tune. You also have to remove the DPF regardless. You don't "need" a physical tuner for it to be tuned. They could have tuned it and kept the hardware.

Tell me more about the truck. 2500? 3500? Just curious. I sold my 2016 3500 a couple years back. Been looking for it ever since.

My truck is a white 2500 SLT, leveled with 35s that came from South Carolina. Had 175k on it when I bought it. Actuator failed 6 weeks after purchase so I just replaced the whole unit with a Fleece Cheetah.
The DPF is not there, race pipe installed and DEF gauge stays pegged at full.
Is it possible for me to test the EGR system? For example, unplug the EGR and throttle valve to see if it throws codes, or doesn't run right?
Will it go in to limp mode?

ahh ok.. definitely not mine.

If the DPF is missing, it's tuned. Just unplug both and see what happens. Chances are, they took the easy way out and didn't pull anything off.
