I have a 2017 ram with a Hemi that I bought in spring of 2018. The plan was to do an extended trip summer 2018. Medical stuff got in the way so trip was put off till this summer. So the truck only has 850 miles on it. My question is there any special breakin stuff in the factory oil? My usual oil is Mobil 1. Would be way easier to change before I go but if there was breakin qualities in factory oil I would look at having a dealer do it along the way. I really don’t like having a shop do my oil changes.

Most just usually suggest breaking in a new vehicle with conventional oil. I changed mine around 1250 miles with regular Pennzoil 5W-20 for peace of mind. Ran that until 7500 then switched to Penn Platinum synthetic but a lot of new vehicles come with synthetic now from the factory such as our 4Runner so I wouldn't be too concerned if you changed early.

Any break in lube would be flushed out by the oil by now and dissolved/dispersed evenly but I doubt OEM's use anything other than the regular oil required.

No, nothing special about the oil from the factory. It is not a break in oil. Many say it is just penzoil yellow bottle.

I'm with you, don't like dealers or other people touching my truck; know one will ever do it like we do on your own vehicles.
I'd change out the oil before going out of town, nothing special about the factory fill.

If it's the first oil change I'd recommend that you let the dealer do it. It seems they have a 5000 pound gorilla(really a robot) at the factory that torques the oil filters on at about a 1000lbs torque and they are a ***** to get off. I always let the dealer deal with the first oil change. My numbers may be a little off, but in reality the first filter is realllllly realllllly tight.
