Kinda depends on the year of the truck. Some 10-12 wouldn't through a code if you unplugged the egr others would. 13+ 99% sure you will have to have a delete capable tuner. I don't remember off hand but I believe depending on the tuner you should be able to just delete the egr if you want and leave everything else in tact. But don't turn off any the dpf and leave it intact.

This is what I read also. The EGR system in the 2013 and up uses temperature sensors to check on the performance of the EGR. Simply blocking off the EGR will set codes. I also read on the newer designs, the EGR isn't used all that much, I've read numbers in the range of 10 to 20 percent. There are several threads discussing this on the Cummins forum.
