Dial shifter got me

So I have a 2014 2500 and my wife has a 17 1500 with the dial shifter. Yesterday was the first time I’ve had any real issue other than getting in hers and trying to reach for shifter “always fun”. I got in my truck and didn’t even realize I did it I turned the knob which on my truck is the 4x4 knob. I put my truck in gear and went to take off in the parking lot. Talk about a racket lol. I was like WTF IS GOING ON HERE. Guess I’ll slow down and pay more attention :doh2:

I've came close to turning several times on the highway to instead of the ac I can only imagine what would happen. I would hope its blocked somehow

I’ve never touched the other dials. But her shift knob and my 4x4 knob are the same dang thing lol.

So really the dial shifter didn’t get you. You getting used to it(and admit it), In your wife’s truck it’s not as bad as everyone makes it out to be
Oh yeah for sure. It’s zero issue for me. I like the column shifter and i like the knob shifter. Never ever ever liked a console shifter lol. If it’s not in the column I’d prefer the knob. But it’s ya funny when I’m in wife’s truck I sit there grabbing for my shifter and she just laughs

When I still had my truck I would reach for the knob in my charger from time to time. Now that I have the Jeep and it’s more like the car it doesn’t affect me anymore lol

Dial shifters belong in golf carts and hippy hybrid cars.....not truck.

I feel the same way about console shifters.... not saying I’d take a column shifter over my rotary dial shifter but, if I had to choose between those other two, I’d take the traditional column shifter over one that’s in my console.

Too each is own, I guess. Different strokes for different folks.

See, it’s catchy. If you let it. I adapted very well to mine.

I liked the column shift on my 03 SLT QC, sans console, because in a pinch I could seat three across the front seat, and the fold down "office/arm rest was cool enough already. The 2018 sport is nice (and I can't/won't get rid of the console/storage box up front), but the feeling of "leg room" is sort gone with the compartmentalizing of the front seats with the console divider.

The other slight down side to the rotary shifter is the "fly by wire delay". When you want to shift "right freaking now"....that micro delay starts feeling really really long sometimes.

I changed my shifter to the B&M version, it feels more solid than the plastic oem knob and you can easily feel it’s not one of the other knobs.

I don’t think my wife would like that though lol. I only drive her truck cause it’s sooo much smoother, faster, quieter, nicer well it’s just nicer all the way around haha.
