I installed sealight high and low beam LED’s but before removing old halogens I marked garage door with them for height, I then put LED bulbs in positioned at 3 and 9 on the emitters then checked the height and they were same as halogen bulbs. Driving at night I’m getting oncoming traffic flashing me when on low so I’m wondering if I did something wrong?

Yes, you installed LED bulbs, that’s where you went wrong

Any better information? Which style headlights? Which led bulbs? Some leds scatter real bad. Did it have a good bright hot spot or was it blurred out when you tried to adjust the light? If it didn’t have a solid bright spot like the halogens then that’s why. Most led bulbs do not project the light properly and will scatter the farther out the light gets. I have leds in stock reflector housings and they have a solid hot spot and a good cutoff to prevent light scatter.

Bulb are as follows
SEALIGHT H11 9005 LED Headlight Bulb, High Beam Low Beam LED Bulb Kit,6000K Bright White, Halogen Replacement,
purchased on Amazon I made sure the emitters we facing 9 and 3 in lens and the bright spot looks like in your picture plus they were level with the tape I had put on garage door with halogens on. I was thinking of maybe lowering bright spot down a few inches but want to get opinions 1st

Lows should be 3.5 ft off the ground at 25ft.
If your truck is lifted you have to adjust accordingly.

Exactly what Ipennock said,Ground to center of headlight at wall and measure and mark wall with tape, backup 25' and 2"-3" below tape adjust.Thats if you have projectors, quad headlights will scatter light and blind oncoming traffic anyway.

Apparently headlight glare isn't a new problem. This is a 2007 report from NHSTA to Congress on the problem.

https://www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.dot.gov/files/glare_congressional_report.pdf

Make sure the manufacturer of your LED's supplies documentation indicating conformance to DOT regulations on headlamp bulbs. If they can't supply it then most likely their product does not conform to the regulations.

The design of some LED bulbs are incompatible with some reflector housings. This can sometimes be seen where the light emitting part of the lamp assembly is closer or further from the back of the reflector than a standard halogen for which the housing is designed. Some LED lamps have a ring and clamp on the rear of the assembly that allows adjusting the lamp deeper or shallower into the housing as well as the clocking. If your lamp has this adjustment, try moving the light emitting part in or out to "tighten up" beam pattern. Particularly the horizontal width of the pattern which tends to contribute the most glare to oncoming drivers.

Here is a picture of a Sylvania H11B halogen bulb. This bulb meets DOT regulations.

The light emitting part is the little vertical coil near the middle of the glass envelope. The distance between the center of the coil and the top face of the black plastic lamp holder is the design distance of the lamp. This is a standard measurement (+- manufacturing tolerances) that headlight reflector manufactures take into account when designing reflector headlight assemblies. Some LED headlamp manufacturers ignore this and / or clocking accessories / mechanisms alter that relationship and the resulting beam pattern.

I think you may have bought the wrong style. Did you buy a multi sided bulb?

Check out this video and see if this is your problem.

I used the Fahren brand for low and highs in my quad reflectors. When up against a garage door, I noticed the drivers side was down a bit which I understand why but it bugged me so I raised it to match the passenger side.
I still don’t get flashed by anyone so I’m happy.F7F79814-F4ED-467E-BE43-B2D0344C91BD.jpeg813B9794-0FFE-4616-AFE9-1CD2372DF54A.jpeg

rick_ca,

One thing you need to look at is how your LEDs' are clocked (Positioned). I have the Headlight Revolution Supernova V.4's in my 2018 Ram. When I first installed them, they were clocked to where the 2 LED modules were facing at 12 and 6 o'clock and the beam looked like crap. After reading the instructions for the Quads like I have, they need to be at 3 and 9 o'clock and the beam is perfect and I have never been flashed in over 2 years. I will never go back to halogen bulbs again!! Like you my truck is factory and not lifted.

When you buy LEDs, you have to get the correct ones, some are made for projection housings and some are made for reflection housings. Some just scatter light, I always checked with headlight revaluation to see which bulb worked best with which vehicle headlight housing.

so did wall test last night marked center of light on the wall turned on Lights bright spot was on the line so backed up 25ft and bright spot still at center of line but with a sort of halo effect around it. should i lower a few inch or can it be the one or two cars that have flashed me might just have dirty windows?

Yes you need to aim them down approximately 2 in below the line at 25 ft. Your little experiment proved that your lights are aimed too high.
