Ok, I screwed up and ordered the wrong Redline 75w140 diff fluid. I got the NS type by mistake. My question is can I just add the friction modifier (if so, how much) and be good or do I need to bite the bullet and get the regular 75/140?

if you require friction modified fluid, yes, you can buy a bottle of the stinking stuff and add it to your diff along with regular fluid.

^^^ what @canadiankodiak700 stated
The 1500 trucks use a clutch based anti-spin differential (LSD) so a friction modifier is needed in the gear oil.

Yes you need it. Rear only. Put a quart of oil in then 4oz. Of modifier then fill the rest of the way. Do like this so you dont overfill on modifier and get all 4oz in.

Ok, so just to be clear, I have 75w140NS (Non Slip) not the regular 75/140. So even with the NS stuff I just need to add 4oz of Redline 80301 limited slip differential friction modifier and it’ll be ok?

Yep but if you are 2nd guessing just return it and grab the stuff with it added. You will be ok just adding. Do some figure 8's in a parking lot somewhere to see how shes doing.

OEM service is standard 75/140 with the modifier added in after the first quart so YES, just add the modifier after the first quart of 75/140 and you're fine.

Always email Dave from redline and ask him direct, he usually gets back in a day unless it's the weekend. Sometimes modern oils have things that protect plastics and such that older formulas don't. I have zero idea if this is the case here, but I know a guy who you can ask.......

[email protected]

Ask him the difference berween NS and non NS redline gear fluid, ask about everything even above just adding modifier.
