I have a 1971 Dodge/Thomas Bus that has a D300 chassis and the brake drums are completely worn out. I can find no suppliers for replacement brake drums so it looks like I'm going to have to upgrade to disk brakes. Do any of you fine folks have any suggestions? (please don't recommend The Ram Man Inc as I paid $2090 for a disk brake conversion kit that doesn't fit and after 8 phone calls, one email and a Priority Mail Packet sent to them I've received no response of any kind from them in over 6 weeks. I've now referred this purchase to my charge card company and the Ft. Worth BBB and I note that I'm not the first complaint).

I'd appreciate any help that I could get in getting our little bus back on the road. Thanks!

if the chassis parts are common with any D300, then rockauto.com has drums for 71 D300 listed at $38 each. Raybestos 2934R drums.

I hope you can use the Raybestos ones. Be prepared to have to turn them right out of the box. Unfortunately, as with so many brands they tend to be junk now. I bought a set of Raybestos finned 11 inch police drums and adjusted them just right, but every time I torqued the wheels down they wouldn't spin at all. Back off lug nuts, they would spin again just the right interference/adjustment.

But with your unique situation you'll probably be glad to just find some and have them turned.

Are they 8 x 6.5 in. Bolt Pattern?

The Roadkill guys would just yank a complete rear axle w/discs from a Mopar that had the same dimensions and make it work.
