I want to do this in the next couple of weeks but I'm going to do the black then go over it with the silver metalizer to try and get a gunmetal look.

How well do plastidip'ed wheels hold up to tire changes? I want to dip now but also will need new rubber later this year, and I dont want to have to dip twice.

Black with silver metalizer wont' give you the gun metal look. Get anthracite.

All these emblems are base coat with anthracite.

The HE in HEMI is only anthracite.

R is three coats pearlizer
A is three coats silver metalizer
M is 6 coats gold metalizer

If the dip is thick enough some shops will be able to change tires without damaging it, but I'd wait until the new tires on. Most shops wouldn't know what plasti dip is and probably rip it.

Thanks Radak, Maybe I'll get a can of anthracite and try it both ways before I commit to doing all 4.

And a note to all, Plasti-Dip does not like bug and tar remover. I got a little crazy when I washed my truck over the weekend and had to peel my emblems. I'll dip them again when I do my wheels, probably going to match them to my wheels.

I just did this to my truck a couple weeks ago. Dipped my rims, grille, bed rails, badges, and emblems. Threw in some black headlights and tinted my tails and 3rd brake light with plasti dip "smoke". Just need some black exhaust tips now!

How much of a difference does it make to the shine adding the glossifier on top of the plasti-dip? I like the look of the black, but want something with a little shine to it.

It adds a noticable shine but its not that deep gloss black like car paint has. Here is a Mustang rim I recently did with two coats of gloss.

I've done this on vehicle's wheels in the past and the Plasti-Dip really holds up quite well.

They make a glossifier too if you want that flat dip to shine (the trick is 7 coats). The glossifier also adds durability to the plasti-dip. I've been thinking about doing my chrome clad wheels with the black + glossifier but haven't decided yet. I feel that if I do that and like it, I will spend too much time and money on trying to black out everything.

looks awesome! good job.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but another helpful tip with plasti-dip is put the can in a bucket of warm water before applying it (1/2 to 3/4 of the can submerged under the water) , makes for more even coats and just applies a lot nicer! :favorites13:

Nice job man! Looks Great! I recently did mine and gave them a two tone look. I made a video on how I did it in case anyone out there wants a similar look. Check it out

Awesome, thanks for the video - - I have been trying to sort out how to tape off areas on my 20" Laramie rims to get a two tone look, would have never thought to just slice it like you did. Yours looks great! I will probably have to get an xacto set to do the curves in the areas I want to stay chrome on mine... Thanks again for the video!
