I was reading the 6spd has a thermocouple device as well, I know diesel performance products make a part for the 2500 3500 trans for the same problem, but it doesn't fit the 1500

Being a 2012 you shouldn't have the thermal bypass on your 6 speed,it came into play on the 13's when they went to the Thermal Management System.Take a look through your grill on the pass side of the truck,if you don't have a block of aluminium towards the upper corner with hard lines running into it,you don't have the tranny T-stat.Should have a number similar to this on it 5511105AC and should say Mopar "from trans" and "to trans" on it.

I guess when it breaks it really breaks but when it's working good it works.

I pulled 8800 pounds roughly 500 miles and my trans temp never went above 194. That was a few weeks ago in all this heat we've got going on.

I'll be adding this page to my list of "just in case" pages should my transmission temps rise out of control like yours did.

Same here. I tow my 8000# travel trailer all the time. Trans never really gets above 195, towing or not. Oil temps, on the other hand, get up to 225 when towing.

Yeah my oil temp peaked out at 250 on my last haul.

That's a bit high for oil. Might want to consider an aftermarket oil cooler. I am with only seeing 225.

Yeah it was a bit high but that was right after climbing a pretty good hill and maintaining 65ish with 8800 in tow.

I don't tow that often so I think I'm good?

Probably ok. I wouldn't go a full 10k miles between oil changes though.

Yeah. I change my oil at 5k religiously because of the occasional heavy towing I do.
