Do these lifters look Legit? Real Mopar? What do the Hemi Gods think?

Trust me when I tell you that you will not always get identical packaging from them for the exact same item. Everything else appears correct, but note that they were packaged on different dates. Where did you purchase them from?

My calculus for this sort of things is to compare the money saved to the cost of parts and labor If I have to do the job again.

It looks like MMX sells a full set of OEM lifters for 900$

The Ebay set is 310$

So, for me the question would be: Is it worth 510$ to not have to do this job again next month?

If you buy the Cam and lifters together as a set from MMX, the lifters are 699$

I hav been agonizing over these stupid lifters. I tried ordering from Mopar - backordered. I got these from an e-bay seller for just under $400 - so yea, that is why I am asking the question.

I returned a set of Enginetech based on comments I read here on the forums.

I have been without a vehicle for two weeks and I really need to get this running, and no - I do not want to do it again.

I have the cam, from Mopar, I have everything else ready - I just need the lifters.

Do a google image search on that picture you posted. It pops up with dozens of results on Ebay and other questionable websites.

Hope they work out for you but I wouldn't trust them myself.

If you are already that deep into the engine, IMO, spend the money and get genuine parts from a known reputable dealer or warehouse.

I just ordered a full set from MMX. I didn't need the cam and the price is what I was going to pay to Mopar - at least I know they are real and I can sleep better! Hopefully then come on Saturday as I paid for 2 day air shipping.

I will return the others.

Better safe than sorry.

What does the packaging say to me? Well, nothing. You aren't buying what might be in the boxes in the picture, you're buying what is advertised on top of the boxes. ;)

OP, did you buy them from ebay seller "TigerAuto". If so, At least that counterfeiter fixed the misspelled "republic" in the more recent listing.

Because in the same seller's older listing, it's spelled:

Either way, good call on returning them. If it was something cheap, or even expensive but not involving so much labor to install, it could be worth it.

But when it comes to lifters, I wouldn't risk it anymore than id risk it with brake pads or parachutes.

Looks like knock offs, the real Mopar packaging is different. Those are taken at the dealership.
This is what mine looked like purchased from a known Ram dealer.
Sure as hell didn't pay $900 though, think they were ~$550

Seems like my local ram dealer's wholesale site is oos on the lifter, but this is what most dealership's wholesale sites look like.
There's always a phone number and an address for you to call them directly / google maps search the dealer.

For anyone else looking for parts, google 'Mopar wholesale' and there's a TON of dealers around the US that have wholesale parts sites.
Non of them will give you the wholesale prices if you call the parts department, but you can order online have them ship to you or will call pickup.
Most manufacturers have similar sites. I know Honda, BMW, Mercedes and Ford do for sure.

100% legit, I have used that seller before.
Just zoomed in on the pics on the site and lifter body and roller have pits all over them. Never seen that before on a quality lifter. All the ones I have used have been highly finished and smooth.

Maybe a new strategy for oil retention

I don't think what you are seeing is pits. I think it's oil from the packaging.

Benny from Mopar parts, a forum vendor enjoys a solid reputation on the forum. Give him a call. That being said, I haven’t used him myself.

I got the lifters from MMX today. Installed and I can sleep at night. I'll return the other ones. Maybe have this thing together by end of day tomorrow. It's nothing special, my daily driver but it's the only vehicle I have and I'm retired on a fixed income, so no car payments for me!

Lifters are installed and the motor is back together. Still need to do the exhaust pipes and radiator/fan.

I also plan on pre-priming the oil system before I start it up but back filling, under pressure into the oil pressure port. This repair better last longer than me!
IMG_0675.JPGMopar Cam
Mopar Lifters
4 new MDS Solenoids
New VVT Solenoid
New timing chain, phaser and gears
New Harmonic Balancer (I broke the original getting it off).
New Melling M452HV Oil Pump
New Exhaust manifolds
New set of reconditioned heads and Fel-Pro head gaskets.

I took great care torqing everything to specs and used good assembly lube

I also plan on pre-priming the oil system before startup and I plan to run Mobile1 5W-30, and will change the oil after the first 300 miles. Then I may switch to PUP oil and still 5W-30, I just think that 20 weight oil is like water, especially in the Florida heat.

I think a new thermostat should go in but what temp? I am in Florida so I am thinking a 190 ish instead of the stock 203. What do you guys think?

It appears you are doing everything you can do to assure the repair is completed correctly.

Hopefully this repair will last many years. Good Luck!

Stellantis finally did come up with a total fix for any further HEMI cam failures from here on out.........

If Stellantis can't, or won't, fix it, just replace it with a Hurricane.

It's cheaper than admitting you have a problem......
