Do you see any repercussions to permanently turning off the mds?

So....

The consensus is okay to shut it off all the time?

I pretty much did until recently, because of these rumors and now only about half the time.

I saw on the Diablo forum someone recently asked this question and the Diablo tech said that shutting off the MDS doesn't harm anything. Seems like a bold answer for a company rep if he wasn't sure about it.

I also posted the question to the YouTube guy an ex Chrysler mechanic who did a couple video's on this subject, he too said it wont hurt anything just keep idling to a minimum. (Meaning if leave it on/stock on or if you turn them off just don't idle too much.)

MDS does nothing for fuel saving,I only get 12 or 13 miles per gallon city driving. Which I think should greatly improve when MDS is on half the engine is working, but still has weight and moving parts being powered by the engine. I think it was some Federal EPA rule they had to satisfy so that's how we ended up with this **** in a Hemi engine.

A friend's Tahoe just had the same problem with it's lifters and can. So it isn't just a Ram issue. I think it has a lot to do with where the lifters are made and the quality of the work are they made in China or Mexico or are they made under stricter guidelines in the US the same goes with the lifter springs which are supposed to keep the lifters in contact with the cam are the springs becoming weak thus allowing a gap to occur between the roller and the cam lobe my friends Tahoe was a new Tahoe with the 5-3
The company I work for has one 2004 and one 2005 Chevy 1500 Silverados with the 5.3 and I've put cams and lifters in both of them between 150,000 and 200,000 miles.

We run LS GM's in our company vehicles too,and we've had to replace 2 engines lately, one at 250,000 kilometers, the other one at 300,000 kilometers ,oil pumps went south on both and killed the crankshafts in both engines

My 2021 6.4L 2500 does not have the idle up feature to bump oil pressure while idling. Haven't found any info on how it might be enabled since I don't believe there's any hardware involved. Just a software change. The question I have is would it be possible to "Fool" the air inlet temp sensor and maybe coolant or oil temp sensor into thinking the high idle warm up feature needs to be invoked? Thoughts?

I had my cam and lifters replaced back in 2016 at 58,000 miles. I've had my MDS disabled and also running 5W30 since with no issues. I'm now at 115,000 miles.

Dang, all this talk of wiped cams, lifters, oil problems etc. makes me wonder if I made a mistake ordering a new 3500. My 1997 2500 with v-10 has never had a problem. Of course I may have jinxed myself now, as it only has 144k miles. Hoping the new truck shows up in June and gives me no problems.
