so funny thing i saw last week. the hornets have sat on the lot where i purchased my ram the other day so long that they needed jump box's to start them and move them out of the way. not a good look.

however, the high end one they have is nice. it was a track version or something. was neat. but not 45-50k neat.

I suspect the number of potential customers in this market space who associate the two can be counted on zero fingers.

Either way, Hornet is not an appealing name for a car. Yes, I'm old, and that image is what the name brings to my imagination.

Dad had one with a 258 six and 3 speed transmission he used to drive to work. It was a good running car, but the materials, especially the paint and interior, were sub-par.

The engine and transmission couldn't be killed though.

The Hornet could have been the greatest little crossover to ever, a, crossover but the fact that they told everyone, "No more HEMI's, deal with it peasants!" and then in the next breath introduced a dressed down alpha doomed this thing from the start. Same as the Hurricane, no matter how great that engine is or is not they introduced it right after telling everyone to pound sand the 5.7 HEMI is gone. Stellantis and little carlos know what they are doing, I swear! lol

Actually, several enthusiast sites were predicting the end of the Hemi V-8s back in 2021, and knew at that time "a new engine" was being designed to replace it.

However, I have to take issue with the claim that Carlos knows what he's doing. He's a bottom-line MBA type and i don't believe he has understanding or a willingness to understand local or regional markets.

Pretty sure there was sarcasm his comment about little Carlos knowing what he's doing.

I also just got back from vacation... I saw a BUNCH of Grand Wagoneer's. Couldn't believe how many people will spend that on an SUV.
IMHO the Euro-Idiots running Stellantis has set the company back 5+ years with their "Green New Deal".
Almost no one in the US is going to buy car (myself included) unless it's a camry or an accord. And you're certainly not going to sell one of those Hornet POS to a Challenger or Charger buyer.
And why they dropped the Hemi cold turkey is beyond me. Why can't we have a choice? No one would be complaining if they could by a V8 or the SST in the Ram
WTH were they thinking? I'll tell you. They think just like Kamala, Bernie and AOC - they think they can Ram (pun intended) this eco-garbage down our throat.
Stellantis is going to find out the hard way... Americans don't respond well to that.

The base Hornet starts at $40k here, the hybrid at $50k… for what? A basic compact commuter car. You’ve got a lot of choice in the market for that money, much better choices.

As for the Wagoneer, it still baffles me why people pay over $100k for a vehicle. If I’m wanting to best the neighbours with the new shiny, it won’t be in a Jeep.

Enjoy your debt, people.

I've never been interested in "besting" my neighbor or anyone else for that matter. It's all I can do to keep up with my own small tribe!

Jeep's versions at least had some character and the Jeep marketing aura. Compass outsold the Hornet by a factor of 10:1 on average.
I rented a Compass up in PA a few years back. I felt like the kid up the street with the little electric toy car replica of his daddy's Jeep. It was also the first time I experienced that lane change warning thing that vibrates the steering wheel...No thanks on that one, too.

Not my kind of vehicle, but they sold pretty well and did surprisingly well in crashes for their class. I saw a few with some nasty hits, including offset head on, and they protected the occupants better than I would have expected.

I've had some rentals with the vibration and some with a slight tug to the wheel, which is even worse. In Spain I frequently had to ride the center line or cross it due to cyclists and it would give me the tug toward the cyclist each time.

Agreed! First time I experienced it was in a rented Outback. Driving down the highway and there was some road kill in my lane. So I swerved to avoid it and the car tried taking me back towards it. It was easy to override but was totally unexpected. Next thing I did was ask the wife to look in the owner's manual for how to turn that off.

100% here are some quotes from little carlos just the other day, I will translate for those not stricken with the mind virus:

"To stay alive we need to achieve cost parity between electric cars and thermal cars(we call them ICE buddy and sometime NOT golf carts, either works), but another chapter opens here. We operate in a geographical region animated by chaos and it is difficult to make predictions. Governments have decided to reduce purchase incentives and this is holding back the market.(aka we can't sell this crap without the taxpayer chipping in whether they want to or not!)"

"My cars are ready(except for the charger ev and the wagoneer ev lol), my people are ready(except for those we keep laying off due to "parts shortages"), and our factories are ready(as the Belvidere plants sits as idle as a ghost town...). Why delay? Is global warming no longer a problem?(Psst, carlos its "climate change" now, remember) Right now half of Portugal is burning." (yes because there was never a forest fire prior to hydrocarbons being used by human, dear lord.)

To say the man is detached from reality is an understatement. Where's an open russian window when you need one....sigh.

We have used a few GWs as rental vehicles and we have enjoyed them. Too bad they require giving up a first born child to buy, or we'd have that over our Armada Platinum. No way we're spending six figures on ANY vehicle.
